as a pragmatic man, there are two things he has come to appreciate: potential and technology. as someone also versed in many fields of study – all applicable to that very thing – he also knows to appreciate it. to let himself be as dazed by it as he is wary of it. naturally someone who has seen the world end can tend to be wary of anything in extremes. energy in extreme. power in extreme. he became wary the moment he heard of this technology in extreme. the most obvious way to proceed for him could have been simple: extermination. extermination couldn’t assure that this technology in extreme could never be applied again, but it could serve as a momentary neutralizer.
however, his siblings (namely number one) had been insistent that extermination for the sake of it was no longer an available route to take. or at least not an immediate one. you should get to know what kind of guy he is, give him a chance he’d said. cue him being there, waiting patiently to see this technology in extreme. who had not expected to see him, and immediately got what he assumed to be defensive. that could be good, or it could be bad. here is his chance. ‘there’s no need to show off any skills. i am only here for a conversation’
‘i will behave as civilly as you allow me to’ and i’ve taken out people way more dangerous, he almost adds. but that isn’t very amicable.

she took a moment before answering. the notion itself was more of a show of control and power. the memory of her mother (frail and bitter, seething as she waited in all her rage) played in the back of her head you need them to think you’re stronger than you really are. that’s what the old woman’s done all her life, but vinda’s power was no illusion and she’s still craving for more. vinda rosier was a lover of power and powerful women. “are you saying you do not, madam?”
“if you don’t know your own story, others will write for you and that wouldn’t do, now would it?”

late night wandering . @gildcdsilence . accepting
❝ madam picquery . ❞ he’d recognized that voice anywhere , spinning on his heel to catch her standing just out of sight . head ducked ever so slightly in a cordial bow , all before trotting his way over .❝ i’m just ... getting some air . ❞ making sure to give himself ample space from the others to clear his head . gaze flickers down to his case , making sure things are latched securely before it returns to the woman before him .❝ i could ask you the same thing . ❞
@gildcdsilence liked .
the madam did not need to come on his behalf , he mused , but nothing he said could possibly prevent her arrival . lips purse , shoulders slumping as case swung from one leg into the next , bumping subtly into calves . ❝ it wasn’t me , ❞ newt protests as soon as she draws nearer , ❝ there’s been another mistake . ❞
