i've joked about it once before... but seriously, if there were ever an occasion where steven knew giorno was mafia and lucy didn't, i picture him being so extremely wary around him at first. even before he paid off mr. pendleton's debts, he HAS encountered the mafia before in the past. how do you think he'd react to a don showing an interest in his ward?
he's charming and kind outwardly, but that could always be a facade!! but at the same time, lucy seems comfortable around him and giorno manages to keep her away from that stuff.
there's definitely a confrontation of sorts. not in the sense of steven threatening giorno, but moreso him trying to figure out his intentions... a vibe check if you will. to no one's surprise giorno passes and steven gives his blessing!! not that he would make lucy ask for permission to date anyone. she's just always respected steven's opinion on things, and he doesn't want her getting hurt anymore.
