2 and 9 accidentally acquire a baby?
this one was also Jess Day and Jessica Jones which, like, #otp
“Are you afraid of it?” Jess asks, grinning.
“No,” Jessica says, shortly. “I am obviously not afraid of a baby.”
“Okay, sure, I get it, but--please don’t kill me, because I know that you could kill me, but you look like you might hide under the couch if this little bundle of joy got too close to you.”
“. . .it’s too small,” Jessica says, after making a show of rolling her eyes and huffing and crossing her arms. “And it can’t say what it wants. It’s--annoying.”
Jess feels her insides go even warmer and fuzzier, which is saying something, because she’s in her early thirties and has more hormones than she can literally handle and a baby in her arms. She coos softly at it and rocks it before she smiles up at Jessica.
“You’re afraid you’ll hurt it,” she says. “Because of your crazy super powers. That’s sweet.”
“It’s not sweet,” Jessica says. “I’m dangerous.”
“Sure, hon. But I have a plan,” Jess says, brightly, because she has a plan.
“You’re not allowed to have fucking plans,” Jessica says, immediately. “Especially if they could be described as zany.”
“First of all, don’t swear in front of this infant child, you monster,” Jess says, which makes Jessica look properly chastened. “Second of all, we’re going to do this like how my dad taught me to swim.”
“Are you going to. . .throw the baby at me?” Jessica asks.
“No,” Jess says, laughing. “I’m going to stay by your side the entire way and gently encourage you until you can leave the nest at your own comfortable pace.”
“. . .how long did it take you to learn to swim?” Jessica asks, skeptically.
“Oh, I can’t swim,” Jess says, smiling wide. “Now, get over here, we’re having baby practice.”
