They’re only part of his civilian disguise so he doesn’t need to wear them that often, but I like when he does because it’s cute. It does feel kind of pointless to wear them, though, because he’s got those big fat stitches plastered right across his eye, and anyone with half a brain could immediately tell he’s not a normal man :P
