Week 12: Scandal

"I don't really get into scandals and drama like that? I'm simply too pretty. But I really wanted to participate this week, so I'm picking a song with a really messy backstory that you're all free to google for yourselves if you want. But mostly this performance is like a demonstration of exactly why I'll make a great glee captain. I can't sing so I'm showing teamwork and good taste by giving the solo spotlight to Blaine, who I know can actually rock it, while I'll be accompanying him on guitar!"

It's a pretty standard performance if you can ignore Sugar with a heart shaped electric guitar trying her best to live out some random Orianthi fantasy next to Blaine, they both sound good, she's just the most extra person alive about it.

After it's over she tells everyone to look under their chairs (or Wastebasket for Artie) where there are Goodie bags with "VOTE FOR SUGAR" labeled on front and a smaller "(Or Blaine)" sticker pasted on front as an after thought. Inside there's a lot of candy, a Vote for Sugar button with "or blaine" scrawled underneath in thin tipped permanent marker, and a hundred dollar gift card for the local salon.

Finn has approximately none of the swagger of 2013 JT, but she sounds cute on it and tries replicating the vibe even though she’s literally in a t-shirt & jeans and so much more awkward looking.

So, this week’s assignment had me thinking, how can we feature the voices that will win us Sectionals, and I think that this song could really get us there. Plus, it’s one that people know, and it’s also not a Journey song.

Week 9: Lady Gaga

Basically just this video. Except Sugar's dressed like a cowgirl. Yeah.

Week 10: Secrets

Other than the Title of the song, which Finn has artfully changed to "Puckerman", the performance is mostly directed at Quinn. Mostly because of the song's lyrics and the fact that Finn really wants to inform everyone that she and Quinn are very much broken up now. But also Finn is truly too angry and sad to even be able to sing her song and look at her ex best friend at the same time. At least until the last "I hope that it was worth it" that Finn directs right at Puck, seconds before LITERALLY throwing herself into his direction fists first, in order to beat his ass.

“So like, we’ve all met Kent and know he has like scary HBIC vibes. Even though he’s not in charge of anything. But I’m sure he will be someday otherwise he’ll probably go all Mandy Moore in the original ending of Saved!, so my song for him basically represents that?”

Totally more dance based than any actual attempts at singing, Sugar still tries her best. And no shade, but like think when Fifth Harmony tries to sing and dance at the same time but still somehow worse. On the bright side, she hired some professional dancer eye candy to fake boss around, so it’s at least fun!

Week 8: Disney

In true over the top Sugar style, she's directed everyone to go to the auditorium which has been fully decked out like a 60s surfer beach (Minus the sand). And of course to match, she has herself, @mattrutherfcrd, @michaelaschang and @fondueforbritt are all dressed up like either a surfer or a biker.

The vocals are of course trash on Sugar's end but she's learning to harmonize but with Matt doing the Ross Lynch parts and the minimal solo parts anyway, it evens out enough that it's not a complete wash. But the vocals aren't the most important part of the performance anyway. The real focus is the dancing, which is just some top tier dancer excellence. Since the song is one of those "list the dance moves" type dealies, all New Directions is invited to participate but the little tap break and more complicated stuff is all theirs and it's v cute, high energy and good.

It's a chill little lady duet just vibing on some stools. We stan inter-popularity friendships!
