[image description: a black ballpoint pen sitting on a red watermelon slice pillow. The pen has a clear chamber at the top third of the pen filled with circular rainbow-coloured glitter pieces and a clear liquid, with a plain black barrel and a thin black clip attached to the top of the pen.]
Rainbow Glitter Pen - K-Mart, $3 AUD.
Dimensions: 14 x 0.8 cm.
Variants: There are multiple colours available on K-Mart’s website, including gold, silver, rose, purple and ombre.
K-Mart has gotten in a whole range of glitter and liquid pens targeted at adults: smaller pens, clean designs, smaller glitter chambers, dark and pastel barrel colours. If you’ve felt self-conscious about using the larger glitter baton pens but still want some stim in your stationery, these will be ideal.
Unfortunately, the changes made to make these more office-suitable also make them less stim-friendly. The liquid inside the clear chamber is very thick and the glitter takes a long time to move down it--too long to hold my attention, as I get bored of watching it. I prefer the fall rate of the glitter in normal glitter batons and baton pens. The glitter in mine also tends to get stuck in clumps, requiring more banging and shaking to move down the chamber.
This pen is also of a standard single-colour ballpoint thickness, which, while normal, is much more difficult for people with any kind of chronic pain or hand disability to hold. (I’ve seen several OTs in my time and not a one of them had anything good to say about the use of narrow pens.) I need my pens to be at least the width of a four-colour click pen, and this is just too narrow for me to use at all, never mind comfortably.
(It has a standard 1.0 black point, which I’ll mention as someone who prefers a 0.7 mm point.)
This said, I can see this pen being really useful for many adults as a subtle office stim toy, and there’s lots of different colour options!

Liquid Glitter Make Up Brushes
These brushes are my new favourite stim toy. I love them so much that I’ve purchased a second set to actually use for make up as I knew I couldn’t bear to dirty these ones. The bristles are super soft and are just perfect for running over your face, hands or anywhere else for the tactile stim. I personally really like running it over my lips too.
Of course the big draw of these is the visual stim with the handles. This is pretty much a glitter jar in the handle of a make up brush and it is so pretty. There’s a large variety of shapes and colours which is not only visually interesting but also gives me a way to ground myself by trying to spot things. Giving myself a task such as find three different shapes is a good way for me to regain focus. The glitter moves freely and easily in the tube and doesn’t tend to get stuck.
The tube seems to be very well secured and I couldn’t find any reasonable way to get into it without intending to break it, but for many products of this type I know the liquid inside can be quite dangerous so that might be something to keep in mind if you tend towards being destructive.
Overall, these are incredibly pretty and a great tactile and visual stim. They are also nice quality make up brushes if that function is important to you. For feminine stimmers and/or those who wear make up, these are also an excellent stealth stim. Make up brushes are a common item that is rarely going to raise eyebrows.
I found mine from a UK seller on eBay for $6.98 GBP with free shipping from the UK. They arrived within a week. My set also came with a clear storage pouch which also has sequins inside, but no liquid so the sequins only move minimally, if at all.
This set is $4.98 USD and also ships from China with free shipping. Local listings are available for the US but all seem to be at a much higher price, usually around 20 USD.
This set is $6.87 AUD and ships from China with free shipping. Unfortunately I couldn’t seem to find any local listings for Australia.
@jellymadchester! Thank you so much for such a fabulous, fabulous submission! I don’t wear makeup, but soft brushes are a wonderful stim, and combining them with the glitter handles is all kinds of stimmy amazing. I’m absolutely sure there’ll be followers checking out your links.
I’ve tucked your image description under a read more cut for length. Thank you for your lovely awesomeness in providing one!

Large, hexagonal pieces of silver glitter fill the tube, appearing pink, blue or yellow as it moves up and down the tube. The white Smiggle logo is printed on the base end of the baton tube, and a white tag sits wrapped around the pen end of the tube, bearing a white barcode sticker and the text “Made in China”. Pen sits on a red watermelon slice pillow.]
Glitter Baton Pen: $4.75 AUD from Smiggle (currently on sale).
Dimensions: 19 cm x 1.5 cm
I couldn’t find a listing for this on Smiggle’s website, so it must be an in-store-only item.
I really like this: it’s a thick pen (better for my thumb pain) and it’s a glitter baton. It’s not terribly adult, so it wouldn’t work in very formal office environments, but it’s awesome everywhere else and a perfect way to justify having a glitter baton on your person.
The only problem is this: the shell (pen housing) is stuck fast to the tube, so there’s no way to to remove the cartridge when the ink runs dry. Since this isn’t an inexpensive pen, it might have been nice to be able to replace the cartridge and keep on using it.
For Aussies and New Zealanders after other stimmy pens, you might like to check out these on Smiggle’s website or in store: Yay Silicone Pen ($6.95 AUD) | Spike Rainbow Pen ($7.95 AUD) | Maze Pen ($2.50 AUD). They’re expensive, because everything in Smiggle always is, but they look so stimmy!

This is a pretty easy lava lamp/glitter baton pen DIY from HelloMaphie involving a clear plastic pen, baby oil, food colouring, water, glitter and hot glue.
Note: I found her voice a little hard to understand at times, so this may not be the best video for people with auditory processing difficulties. Generally, though, the pictures made it clear what to do, and it’s a fairly simple DIY.
Glitter and water filled baton
Hands down. One of my favorite childhood toys!
