Enregistré en 2009, au 1079 1e avenue, ce projet d’album lo-fi, de Sam Drouin (Qz45, Rotting Ebitan, Classic UFO Hunter) et Marie-Pascale Hardy (Paco Sala) fût sortie des archives et finalisé en 2016. Finalement prêt, il est parfait pour les journées grises et pluvieuses d’automne, ainsi que l'inévitable hiver qui s'en vient.

"Brixton Rain" by Ballerina Black // Brixton Rain - Single (Available 5.5.14)

I feel like there's been an absence of strong post-punk and new wave these past several months. I could be just looking in all the wrong places, but luckily I stumbling upon Los Angeles based Ballerina Black's killer new track, "Brixton Rain". The track hits all of the check marks for what i've been looking for - crisp post punk rhythms, dark synth lines, eerie atmospherics, and a melody that gets lodged in your head for days. In some ways it sounds like the kind of song that could appear on a late 80's episode of 120 Minutes, but that's not to say that it's a rehash of familiar goth pop tropes. Ballerina Black capture that lost era with absolute confidence, and imbue their work with a new pulse that feels alive and exciting. I need more sounds like this in my life. Right now. Highest recommendation.
