you've seen the hobbit right? i heard it's getting bad reviews, convince me to still see it!

omg ok

it's really really great. and i think people are giving it bad reviews because they're comparing it to the lord of the rings--which is the absolute wrong thing to do. they both might be set in the same universe but the tone is completely different. the hobbit is more lighthearted than lord of the rings (but still has some grit to it) and was essentially written for children. so trying to compare the two is the fastest way for people to hate the movie.

also a lot of reviewers watched it in 48fps and judged it solely on that, which is bullshit and i want to punch them BECAUSE HONESTLY IF YOU'RE GOING TO JUDGE A MOVIE'S QUALITY BASED ON A FORMAT THAT IS RARELY USED IN CINEMA, YOU NEED TO RETHINK YOUR DECISIONS.

okay moving along.

i thought the movie was really good and stayed true to the book (with some LOVELY added material which i was pleasantly surprised with). the characters are all extremely likable--and massive props to peter jackson for giving most of the dwarves nice distinct personalities so that they're not all blubbering OC's in the background. there were a lot of funny/goofy moments in it (a lot more than lotr had) and some great serious ones as well. a lovely comedy/drama balance and all that. the soundtrack is lovely and the cinematography is gorgeous--and don't even get me started on the costume design. 

overall it's just a great addition to the lotr trilogy and martin freeman was a FANTASTIC bilbo baggins. i had some doubts about him but he seriously blew me away--his performance was spot-on. martin freeman is actually bilbo baggins and if you've read the book i think you'll be very pleased with him.

and on a less serious note THE DWARVES ARE REALLY HOT????? like that was so unexpected but everyone right now is spiraling down into a massive thorin/kili/fili love-fest and it's great.

but yeah it's just a great start to a wonderful trilogy, even if it's a bit long.

most of the people who didn't like it were being nitpicky and comparing it to lotr. just don't do that. if you walk into the theater expecting to see another fellowship of the ring, you'll probably be disappointed (but that might just be me idk). don't listen to the negative reviews because most of them are biased and unfair. just watch the movie and enjoy it for what it is--which is an adventure story, originally meant for children, with some added dirt and grime in order to appeal to adults  (◡‿◡✿)

is there a secret to getting thousands of followers? i've been posting gifs and graphics for about a year now and i can barely get 250 followers.

ahhh. not really? it sort of just happens. and it seems to happen really fast once it starts. sometimes i still think i only have 100 followers and then i look at the actual number and i start screaming.

i think a lot of it depends on what you post, and how often you do it. if you're only posting a couple times a month, you might not get very far. and if you're posting too much, you'll lose followers.

and i guess it also depends on the quality of your posts. if you're making pretty graphics and gifs, people are going to come running. but if you're posting unedited screencaps or gifs that aren't properly sized/colored/sharpened, you won't get very many followers (you might get some, but probably not as many as you would like to have).

themes also seem to be a huge thing.

ugly themes won't do you any good. autoplay will scare people. blogs that take more than five seconds to load are blogs people won't stick around to look at. the more basic, the better. i rarely follow anyone whose theme background is any color other than white/black. 

idk. we're all picky here.

also if you branch out and start talking to other users, you seem to get noticed a bit more. also don't be a dick.

no one likes to follow a dick.
