Sadie smiled at Jasper, “Thank you so much,” she said, shaking his hand and then rushed after James.
He was already outside when she caught up with him. “Sorry,” he said as he looked at her. “It suddenly became too much…”
“Come here,” she said as she hugged him, “You did so well; I’m so proud of you.”
“But Sade… inpatient treatment? At some LGBT facility…? Isn’t that… A bit much…?”
“Honestly, James? No, I don’t think it’s a bit much. Well, I do, in terms of how overwhelming this information is, but no, not as a possible place for you to get help… You’ve been walking around with this, damaging yourself in more ways than one, for nearly ten years. Just, look into this.”
“But then I’ll be away… Maybe for months…” James said hesitantly.
“Yes, and I’ll miss you. But if it helps you get better, forever, then who cares about a few months? And besides, you can probably have visitors too?” Sadie tried.
“I will ask that when I call them…” James said.
“So you will call?” Sadie asked.
“Yes.” James said resolutely. “I came this far; now I have to push through”
“You’re so strong,” Sadie said, smiling at him. “Now, shall we go and get some hot chocolate?”
“Yes, I’d like that.” James smiled back at her.
