30 Days Good Omens challenge: Day 1 Favorite Episode

I don't think in terms of episodes as much with Good Omens, but more in moments. But if I have to choose it's 2x04 The Hitchhikers for the 1941 story. It's so romantic and funny and I think Crowley and Aziraphale get to be the most themselves we ever see them so far. Really hoping it will get picked up in season 3 again.

Day 3: Favorite Aziraphale and Crowley historical era For a long time, it was the Globe theater. Love that scene. And so glad it had to be rewritten with Hamlet as a flop. Genius! But over time, my favorite era has become Aziraphale and Crowley in the Land of Uz in a Companion to Owls. It moves their stories along. Bildad as a cobbler/midwife is a riot. And the final scene on the shore is so beautiful. How could I choose anything else?

Day 30: Aziraphale or Crowley?

This is a set. Do not separate.

Obviously there is no choosing because they are both perfect and both essential. That said, here are some instances where I would opt for one or the other:

If I want to look up an obscure bit of information: Aziraphale.

If I want to go to the movies with someone: Crowley.

If I need someone to drive me somewhere: Crowley. (Sorry, Aziraphale, you drive way too slow. But I do like your travel sweets.)

If I want someone to make me a cup of tea: Aziraphale.

If I want to go clothes shopping: Crowley.

If I want to go antiques shopping: Aziraphale.

If I want to go out to eat: Aziraphale.

If I want to go out for drinks: Crowley.

This has been a fun ride. Thanks for sticking with me. I now return you to your normal slightly-less Good Omens content.

Day 1 - Favourite Episode

I've been thinking about this a lot!! I even changed my mind about it after walking a little 😅

I'd say that my favourite is not only an episode, but a minisode. "A Companion To Owls" probably redefined what Good Omens meant to me as a whole. I adore the book, and the first season was lovely and quickly became "beloved media"… But this bit of backstory gave a really interesting complexity to the relationship between the Ineffables. The moral ambiguity that Aziraphale needs to face for the first time on detail; his unwavering faith in Crawly; the way Crawly is at the same time testing the waters around Aziraphale but also open to be playful and compassionate and tempting…

It is not strange that the whole fandom came together to love Bildad the Shuhite: it is one of the most nuanced instances of Crowley, one that combines deviousness, silliness, genuine hurt ("the angel you knew is not me"), compassion, loneliness and everything in between. Bildad is a side of Crowley that we all knew existed, but have never seen in action. Anthony J Crowley is much more guarded, less vulnerable, even if he can be as silly or kind.

That vulnerability, as well as the true openness that Aziraphale displays for playing along and doing the right thing, even if it was not the lawful one, is what creates the foundation of the love we can see and feel all around the story whenever these two are together. The final scene of the minisode, with them sitting in the same rock, still apart but facing the vastness of the sea together, is a beautiful representation of their starting point: they have discovered that they both are not "yes people", and admitted the loneliness it could bring. Even when building their own side would take millennia, that is the starting point of everything.

Day 27: Character you wish you were like

I would like to be like Crowley

So it could be my destiny to be with Aziraphale

I mean, I would want to be like him because he did something I admire too much, and that is to have said no to going back to heaven, to refuse to go back to an abusive place.

Also because well, we know he's an optimist. That's definitely something I love

And also this being was able to express his emotions, that's something that I definitely don't do, and I think I would like to

Also, very important to mention: STEALING HER GENDER. I want that gender. I need that gender
