The female goat herders of Hadhramaut, Yemen

Goat herding is traditionally done by females in Eastern Yemen. The women cover all their skin from the heat and sun, protecting themselves from dehydration and skin damage, the socks and gloves keep their hands and feet soft despite the unforgiving desert sun. The hats, made from dried palm leaves, serve an important role to insulate air on top of their heads thus keeping them cool, besides providing the obvious shade. The layered clothing also helps with the desert changing mood, where it can shift from hot days to cold nights.

A Fishy Goatherdess

You can buy her goat milk products. Cheese, butter, soap, yogurt, the usual. The only catch is, the goats have a bizarre number of eyes. The safer route is picking the merch made from two-eyed goats. Unless you feel adventurous and pick the 6-eyed goat cheese!

In Montana, noxious weeds have become a widespread problem due to ecosystem disturbances and degraded landscapes. Over time, the dominant method of managing these weeds has been the use of herbicides. But herbicides leave behind toxic residues—harmful both to us and to the planet.

Chia Thrane is taking a different approach. Through rotational grazing, her herd of goats naturally manages noxious weeds, restoring biodiversity, strengthening soil health, and proving that healing the land doesn’t have to come at the planet’s expense.

Women of the Earth, produced by Summer Moon Productions, featuring stories of women across America who are leading a new movement to restore and protect the land. By focusing on women in land stewardship roles, the series will explore women’s unique relationship to the earth and their innovative undertakings to heal the earth from climate change.

Twilight Princess, first play through, part one.

Thoughts on playing Twilight Princess. What is this? Where did my beautiful toon link go? Throwing rocks at the villagers is wonderful. They bend and bounce back like those punching clowns! Rapid fire slingshot is as wonderful as ever. Midna’s character design is…odd. Unsure why. In the Twillight Realm people become spirits, Link becomes a furry, and Zelda becomes a member of Organization XIII. Also Zelda, really, who do you think you were fooling?  Real quotes my wife collected as I played. “Oh a silver rup- *abrupt and hilarious halt as it is revealed to be a BLUE RUPEE!* *While herding goats*: “Hey you little shit-NO *Threatening, to a goat* …YOU. “Never thought I’d have to put ‘get pussy’ on a Zalda Quest List. I thought it just happened naturally” (in response to having to find the neighbor’s cat).
