Ok ok hear me out. Geralt is very obviously an Alpha right? But what if he wasn't originally? What if that's part of the "process" of being turned into a witcher?? What would that even entail???
He started out life as a pre-presented Beta. Most humans are betas, it’s what would make the most sense. He thinks he was probably originally meant to be a beta. He was a normal child after all.
To this day he believes it isn’t just a lack of emotion that lets him keep his cool head in so many situations anyone would have more intense reactions too. There is a level of control his body has that was predisposed to keeping things even. A yearning for the balance in his surroundings that natural Alphas and Omegas skirt the edges of but never quite reach.
Turning into a witcher though? It removed things from what made him a normal person. Witchers are always Alpha’s. Their power, enhanced senses. Sure Omega’s can have some of the perks but nothing like an Alpha. Nothing like a Witcher. The hunt is a part of him now. A part of every Witcher. It’s just another aspect that keeps them on the edges of society.
Whatever bar his body might have started out with was absolutely removed when he was transformed into what he was today. It summons a physicality out in every witcher. It’s why even without the emotion their bodies have the need to find wenches and fuck. It’s what heightens their senses in battles. It’s why beating whatever challenges laid out before them is so intense. Even as pariahs, they will find and beat monsters and beasts. Earning their space amongst the world even as they die out with less and less to their numbers.
It’s why you have to be young to be turned into a Witcher. Before the normal age of presenting. It’s why so many die when the process is tried on them. Already the hormones in a body cause effects even if the general public isn’t aware. After all, it’s genetics that decides what someone’s alignment would be.
The fact it’s magically adjusted though is why Witcher’s are so much more intense vs regular Alpha’s. Primal, more vicious, more thorough.
Oof man I can go on about this all day. Alpha Geralt is too good to not think about.
