Overwatch OC

So thanks to my lovely wife's incredible knack for creating characters in her fandom (and whose fantastic work can be found @greyeyedgriffin and @notamongrel ) I have spent a great deal of time thinking up a potential Overwatch OC. This is...still largely in rough draft form, as the little bugger still doesn't have a proper name. But the idea of a confused omnic who floats around the world looking for meaning is making me very happy, and I want to share what I've made with my followers for feedback ^_^ I mean it: give me your thoughts on the abilities, the backstory, names, or locations; all commentary in good faith is welcome! The only thing I'm reasonably certain of is that they would only have gained consciousness after Overwatch fell. So without further ado: Empty Vessel/Brass Adam/Pulsar This hero's Omnic body with military-grade gravitics built by a god program to mingle unseen among society. They were created with an Omnic "mask" to allow them to function as an autonomous spy; they encountered Dr. Ziegler in this form, but her Caedecus staff registered something deeper. Her old friend Jesse Mccree had recently reached out to her, and she informed him of the potential threat. As a favor to his old friend he tracked down the Vessel in its home base. Mccree encountered the Vessel, and was captured by its gravitic power and threatened by the god program it housed. However, Mccree was armed with EMP-enabled weaponry in the event that Angela's fears proved valid. When it floated close to him, he fired an EMP-bullet that hit the wall and temporarily halted its powers. He then turned Deadeye on the Vessel with the EMP activated, and the Vessel collapsed. The bullet remains lodged in the center of the machine's consciousness housing, preventing the god program from coming online. After Mccree finished purging the base of the god program's hosts, he returned to find the Vessel was gone. The god program had interpreted and adapted the technology of Mercy's Caedecus staff, and the Vessel was able to regenerate its body and "mask" personality with that adaptation. Now the functionality immortal Vessel walks the earth, seeking meaning in their life independent of the malevolent mind that created it. Mccree, for his part, remains concerned about the "Omnic Jesus." Defense hero Basic attack: focused gravity burst. This ability loses focus and power when used at long range Shift: gravity pulse. Launches the Vessel into the air, creates a circular knockback effect. Can deflect projectiles if timed properly E: Warp Field. Creates a small, circular field in range. Enemies hit by this field take damage over time Passive: slowly restores health over time. Flavor: stands upright, but always floats a few inches off the ground. Ultimate: Defy Gravity: Creates a broad field of briefly reversed gravity, throwing enemies into the air and leaving them at the mercy of physics or allied fire.

Possible reasons for why Mondatta was assassinated

Following my head cannon that Mondttta was a former General under the direct control over a God Program during the Omnic Crisis and then rebelling and fleeing with his troops later on, I would like to propose a possible reason why Mondttta was assassinated by Talon. 

As far as we know, Overwatch has managed to lock up and imprison the God Programs at some point in history. As it’s indicated that the God Programs were one of the main reasons why the Omnic Crisis started, theres a certain danger and threat present with these programs around. 

What if one managed to escape detection and was hiding in the shadows, waiting, watching, and plotting?

What if there was a reason why Talon targeted Mondatta?

What if, having been a General during the crisis and knowing about the God Programs having worked under one during that time, knew some important things that would threaten the rogue God Program’s plans. Mondatta knew too much about how they worked, what they could do, how they thought, and was a prominent figure and leader in the world that could influence and helped bring attention to these details. 

What if Mondatta had a anti-God Program firewall installed in him that gave him protection from the rouge’s influence? What if he was too smart to allow anything or anyone to hack into him and had added protection to prevent himself from being taken over under another’s control? Because he valued his freedom and no longer wished to be a slave to another. 

What if the only way the rogue God Program saw in dealing with Mondatta was getting rid of him and silence the old General from ever revealing the Gods’ secrets?

Just like how humans in Greek mythology were punished by Zeus for revealing the Gods’ secrets to humanity and furthering civilization and knowledge onto the world. (Prometheus, Arachne, Tantalus, etc.), so will this God Program punish this former General for rebelling against them and all of what they fought and believed in. Even better to silence him before he spills any of the Gods Programs’ secrets.
