Traumatized, mediocre, bad-guy assassin to healing, skilled, snarky good-guy 'assassin' is such an underrated arc.

like archer literally goes from "idk who this guy is but I'm gonna kill him because my abusive sister told me to" to "I know I'm supposed to kill the witch who saved me from drowning but like she gave me this cool hat and taught me how to prank people so I think she's chill".

I'm having so much fun writing his character development because its an interesting example at looking at how redemption is possible. Archer was genuinely a shitty person before, and its interesting to see him grapple with the magnitude of his past as he heals and tries to become a better person. The process of healing isn't simple and it's a real gut punch to him, especially as a fighter, that there's something out of his control, but the whole learning and redemption process is really interesting to write precisely because of how difficult it is. Honestly he's a fun guy to write because he has to navigate a brand new world and heal at the same time, and the interactions between him and this world while doing so are an important lesson in the fact that yes, healing and redemption is possible, it just takes a lot of time and energy.
