BURUNDI'S PRESIDENT RETURNS TO SEIZE BACK POWER.
The coup which took place in Burundi hours ago has apparently failed to see the light of day as the country’s President has finally made his way back into the country to reclaim the office.
President Nkurunziza announced his return in the presidency’s twitter account, stating that his troops are in key locations.
One of such locations will be the radio station in the capital city of Bujumbura, where the coup was earlier announced by Mr. Gen Godefroid. Five soldiers lost their lives in clashes which occurred earlier in the day (Thursday).
As the coup led by Maj Gen Godefroid Niyombare, came to an end, a member of the coup perpetrators, Gen Cyrille Ndayirukiye, told Agence France-Presse, “We faced an overpowering military determination to support the system in power. ”
However, the precise location of Mr Nkurunziza is not yet known as it is believed the President intends to sweep the figurative carpet clean before making an appearance.
