Summary:
It takes a ruined church and a few prophecy books saved, as well as his life, for Aziraphale to notice the strange feeling taking root in his chest.
It takes a few more years and just as many not-so-chance encounters to realise... It has always been there.
Or, a story of hope and yearning, during humanity's darkest hour.

Aziraphale narrowed his eyes. “So, I take it the rumours about a red-headed demon tormenting Kent were false, then?”
Crowley snickered. “You do realize the English will call any pagan a demon, don’t you? By Óðinn, some would call any ginger a demon.” They looked off into the distance, but were soon caught by the raised eyebrow on the angel’s face. “What?” They barked at his bemused face.
866 CE, the city of York is attacked. Crowley is minding his own business among the Vikings, while Aziraphale is hiding among the English as a bowman. They meet in secret, trying to find an arrangement, when suddenly they are interrupted...

Hello, hello, hello!
My dear writer @cassiecasyl and I, we have the great and vaguely stressful honour of publishing the very first fanfiction of this event!
As a reminder: last May, we artist had to submit an art piece revolving around the theme of Good Omens historical minisodes. Then all artists were anonymously paired with an author who would create a short story of at least 3k words based on said artwork!
That was a fantastic journey! Thanks @go-minisode-minibang !

I'm a bit late in posting this, but both fics for my submission to the reverse @go-minisode-minibang are done!
I drew this back in the early spring and I'm so excited that I finally get to share it. This was my first bang, and a reverse bang was great because I didn't feel like I needed to realize anyone's vision, I just made something I liked and put it out there and hoped other people liked it too! And they did! It was so fun to see what other people saw in my drawing and see it come to life in writing!
And here they are! They are both lovely, please check them out!

"The year is 1809. Crowley’s friend Jane is a master smuggler of both goods and information who seems to know exactly who people are and how they act. Meanwhile Aziraphale has been helping her friend, a brilliant author Miss Austen revise her novel manuscripts in the hopes that they could one day be published for the wider audiences. When Aziraphale accompanies Jane to a ball, they run into Crowley, and all three are surprised by the other two being acquainted."
I enjoyed a lot researching and designing the clothes and the appearances of both Aziraphale and Crowley in 1809. I wanted Aziraphale to actually sport some slightly outdated fashion choiches!
On top of that I also had the chance to draw one of the most important English authors, the one and only Jane Austen, aka the brains behind the 1810 Clerkenwell Diamond Robbery, brandy smuggler, master spy :D
