A Jewish person will be like "someone called me a k*** and then threw pennies at me and told me to pick them up. this is antisemitic" and the comment section will be half people going "uhmmmm being against genocide isn't antisemitic. most people are against genocide, even some jews are against genocide. why would you say that being against genocide is antisemitic? this is why nobody takes antisemitism seriously anymore." and the other half will just be like "cry harder k***".
aside from the everything else about this phenomenon: the fact that men being right-wingers or incels is attributed to women saying "I hate men," but women saying "I hate men" is never attributed to the millennia of violence and oppression men have inflicted on women, is just another iteration of "men are rational, women are emotional."
Men are assumed by default to have some kind of logic behind what they are doing, there's assumed to be some line of reasoning behind it, whereas women are considered hopelessly emotional and inconsistent to where it's futile to even try to understand where our behavior is coming from.
listened to no control and had to go “do something”
Why that pic tho
i feel like the SW fandom as a whole doesn't really talk about the experience Anakin would have had not as a parentified child but as a societally emancipated nine year old adult who is working to provide for his mother and has all of the social responsibilities of an adult, whose childhood ended the moment he first saw his mother feel fear.
like i get this is a niche experience to have personal relation to but he was, in his society, functioning successfully as an adult at 9 years old. i also did this for quite some time and it's a very strange experience
like you are aware that you are a child but you're also aware you're an adult and eventually, if the conditions don't let up ever and you never get time to step out from under the responsibility, you will implode under the strain of these two simultaneous and yet diametrically opposed realities
he had all of the responsibility but none of the privilege
he ate when told he slept when he was told and where he was told and woke when told and moved when told and acted when told and his free time was something he kept secret he pretended he didn't have hobbies or spend time enriching himself in any way because that was a privilege not afforded to him
Anakin was a slow motion mental breakdown from the moment he left the environment he knew to navigate and became alienated from his culture but it was building before that on top of the extremely fucked up mix of having hyperagency applied to him while being stripped of all ability to self determine
idk if this makes any sense or if i can explain this but it's a very empty and lonely feeling it's very heavy it's crushing it's terrifying and there's literally no way out but it's so normal it's all just white noise he lost his whole childhood to being grown too soon and then had to be grown his whole grown life too
also there's this weird partial lifting of the veil effect if i can try my hand at parsing this out. like imagine yourself in the shoes of a labor trafficked child. your childhood ended at (pivotal/traumatic moment) when you were six years old and you're an adult and everyone treats you like that so as unliteral as it is it's literal and then it happens again and you're more of an adult and then it happens again like the layers are being peeled off until you're just a raw and exposed core
Anakin's childhood ended when he realized his mother could feel fear because that meant she wasn't in control all the time and then Anakin's childhood ended again when Qui-Gon took him and again when he lost each of the friends he struggled to make and again and again and again until he was 23 and he was ending other people's childhoods in a final capacity
i love it when people are gay. easily one of my top ten things a person can be
Ahead of the Argentina-England semi-finals, tumblr desperately needs Falklands discourse. It would quickly get messy and accomplish nothing, and it would be beautiful.
