Brian update

First day of JCLC was really awkward for us. We barely talked, stayed away from each other, etc

We were sitting out that night and it was just the two of us. We were about to go to bed, but I stopped him. I talked to him, and I said that I hated this. I hated feeling like we were just giving up, and I refused to not fight for a chance when we didn't even try.

That was the basic rundown, though the convo was much longer. But after I promised him that even if it didn't work out, at least we tried, and we'll still be friends, he agreed.

We got back together.

He agreed to give it a shot, and I'm so, so so so happy. The next day was a bit awkward, but it honestly didn't take us long to fall back into our normal rhythm again. Really sucked at times because at JCLC there's a 'no dating' rule and we had to stay at one arm's length apart at all times

So yeah. We're together again, and I couldn't be happier

Let's gooo - the meeting actually went pretty well. It's still gonna take at least 2 weeks, but i'll hopefully receive my health card. Dunno if i'll get the state sponsored healthcare thing, but at least I have the damn card

The new updated YIIK battle system is not only a huge improvement for this game, but also a big push forward for indie RPGs as a whole in my opinion.

The amount of design space the updated battle system opened up is insane. It has such a fast risk/reward feel with the card system, and thats amazingly backed up by the bleed system and the relatively low ammount of HP.

Making your cards your shields as well as basically spells is so brilliant. Like most battles become little puzzle boxes where you figure out how to take as little damage as possible. And its so cool that misjudging the optimal order of operations even slightly can mean that you get totally messed up by like one more rat gunning for you.

The sheer amount of variables that these cards are tied to is a designers wet dream. They effect stats, theyre your shields, theyre expendable, the placement of the cards matters a ton. Like I'm struggling to explain all this but I hope you understand how cool this is.
