Quarterly Wrap Up: Spring 2016!
Well, here it is. I have finally managed to make an appearance and talk about what I read in the Spring months of this year. I only read five books, but I enjoyed them all the same.
These books were: one play; one Urban Fantasy; and three children’s picture books. Again, it doesn’t appear to be a very productive reading quarter, but I really enjoyed what I read and I am happy with this selection.
On with Spring...
1) Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Despite the old English language barrier, this remains my favourite play. War, Murder, madness and witches makes for a perfect story/tragedy in my book. Definitely a book to read as an intermidiate Shakespeare reader for the simple fact that it is a play filled with heavy content and old english makes it even heavier.
2) Bitten (Women of the Otherworld Series #1) by Kelley Armstrong.
I absolutely love this book, it is one of my all time favourites! The story and the characters draw you into their world completely and you become incredibly invested in them. It is a book that I have read at least twice a year every year since I was 18. Love it! Recommend it! Read it!
3) The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler.
Such a simple but brilliantly executed story about a mouse and a monster. One that you can read again and again without getting tired of it. Time now to watch the short animated film =)
4) The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler.
Really enjoyed reading this installment with my daughter, although, it doesn't quite beat the original.
5) Pizza for Pirates by Adam & Charlotte Gillain and Lee Wildish.
A nice fun little story to read with the kids. Made us chuckle in a couple of places and the artwork is beautiful.
Finally...
So those are the books that I read. I hope you find them to be of some interest and check them out for yourselves. Let me know what you think and I will talk to you all very soon!
Happy Readings everyone!
