Sentence Breakdown

I believe this is a very interesting and intelligent sentence. The way Hakakian can construct such a long sentence-equipped with an immense descriptive vocabulary-is a challenge, let alone having it read as flawlessly as it does. The implementation of extensive punctuation works perfectly to make the sentence an easy read that isn’t bogged down despite the shear amount of descriptors contained within. This is an amazing piece of writing that exemplifies effective descriptive writing.

This good sentence makes use of the active voice and Alice's light trick (she pioneered that method, I'm told) and it also has some nice free indirect style happening with the uncertainty of the animal... wolf or dog?!?!  What a cad old Anton was!
