What's up with gorobot in marukis reality?

I drew this in like. 5 seconds but essentially Maruki knew that he wasn’t always a robot and he just kinda. Wakes up as Goro Akechi (who he has no past memory of ever being so he pretty much just wakes up as a human with no prior warning)

my memory on some of the stuff I didn’t write down is foggy bc it’s been a while but I do remember that he’s not used to having arms with joints and forgetting to eat entirely one day

Hey! So with the gorobot au, have you decided what the command Akira unintentionally gave akechi was?

yaah! so, i had a vague idea already, but i developed it further to answer this ask, hehe.

so as context, there's some kind of shadow threat in gorobot au, it's not important to the "plot" of this au so to speak but it is something where the characters are fighting shadows sometimes, it's how/why akira joins shadow ops and finds gorobot there. not important to this post specifically but this threat is in the real world ala the dark hour simply for plot convenience.

okay, so, gorobot and akira are dispatched on their first mission together by shadow ops. goro hasn't explained to akira that he must obey direct orders because this is something that he is really insecure about and he figured if it was important the other members would have explained it to him anyway. they have not.

akira and gorobot work really well together, it's just like old times, and while they're slaughtering shadows, as an offhand comment akira says "you take care of that shadow, and i'll take this one." goro says "order received; initiating attack sequence" and obeys by attacking the shadow akira pointed towards. akira thinks this is kinda weird, but hey, goro's a robot now, he's bound to have some quirks, that's fine.

but it quickly becomes apparent that these two shadows are a lot more dangerous than he realized. akira's seriously struggling against them, and meanwhile, gorobot is going absolutely all-out against his shadow and getting nowhere, the shadow is damaging him really bad. akira says, hey, i think we should retreat. gorobot ignores him. akira says, goro, seriously, what are you doing, you're going to get yourself killed! goro ignores him.

akira pushes back the shadows he's fighting against just enough to get to goro and try to pull him away from the shadow, but literally nothing he says or does is getting to him, it's like he can't even hear him, like all that matters is destroying this shadow that will not die and is going to kill both of them if they don't get out of there. gorobot even starts shooting in akira's direction when he gets between him and the shadow. at this point akira knows something is up but he has no idea how to fix it and out of desperation he just screams, "goro, stop!"

the new direct command breaks goro out of it, finally, and akira drags him out of there and away from the shadows to someplace safe, but goro won't speak to him. once they're safe akira asks him, what the hell happened back there, it's like you weren't even yourself. he's still running on adrenaline and was really fucking scared for both of them so he's getting pretty angry. goro just kind of won't engage with him because he's also super pissed because (1) this is embarrassing and he hates this flaw about himself he's got Issues about it and (2) akira violated him and it's obvious it was an accident but that still doesn't really matter. he's basically giving him the silent treatment other than single-word answers and finally just insisting they get back to the base because this mission was a failure.

once they get back to the base goro goes off to get maintenance but aegis pulls akira aside and explains to him what happened. he feels really fucking shitty about it, but he's also pissed that goro didn't tell him about something so important when him not knowing could have gotten goro killed, and very nearly did. after that he's super super aware of his phrasing and does his best not to violate goro again. but what happened is still a tension between them for a while because it was just a really terrible time all around for them both.

*jingling keys in front of you* you wanna tell us more about the gorobot au sooooooo bad (please lol i'm obsessed w it. ur brain is huge)

*bats at keys* oh all right you got me

soooo remember what i said about gorobot having forgotten a lot of stuff because of his long coma? well, basically, he's forgotten nearly everything to do with akira. he's also forgotten everything to do with third sem, but that's for other reasons. (the trauma of his personas being split from his body made hereward split back into loki and robin hood, so now he's forgotten everything associated with hereward. his memories end with his death in shido's palace even though he did experience third sem.)

so, goro's memories have a big akira-sized hole in them, with one exception because he does have one singular memory of akira, though the details of it are sparse and it has an almost dream-like quality to it. it's a memory of the two of them in the jazz club, where akira invites goro to dance, and despite his reservations, he says yes. this memory is goro's one respite in the hell that is shady group. he replays this memory over and over again, always trying to recall more details, and always failing. he becomes obsessed with the boy in this memory, the one thing that seemed to make him happy in his previous life. though of course he also hates himself for this obsession, since he has no right to akechi prime's lover, since he isn't really akechi.

still, that memory of akira is the singular thing that keeps goro anchored to some kind of sanity during his time under shady group.

like i mentioned in the previous post, eventually akira does find goro (probably through also joining shadow ops or smth idk) and their reunion is so funny/dramatic bc they're like on opposite sides of the room when their eyes meet and akira is like. is that goro??? it can't be he's dead it's been years i've accepted that he's dead but that looks like goro. and meanwhile goro's system is getting quite literally overloaded with memories that are being triggered by seeing akira and it triggers an emergency shutdown to avoid his systems overheating AKA he passes out in the middle of everyone.

and so goro gets carted away all dramatically and akira is like oh my fucking god that's goro and he's dying in front of me right when we're able to reunite he's going to die. and he's trying to get to him and asking them if goro's going to be okay barely keeping it together enough to be coherent and they're like "oh yeah im sure he's fine he's a robot" and akira is like... "he's a WHAT???"

anyway akira obviously is right at goro's side until he wakes up and goro is still remembering everything (it's still not everything but it's a lot to handle still. it's a bit much to remember oh, the guy im lowkey obsessed with, which I have this really sweet jazz jin dancing memory with, i also tried to kill him. multiple times. that's fun and cool for him to deal with. but he doesn't remember everything yet, for example, he still does not remember the glove. ;-;).

akira is like "i was so sure you were going to die don't scare me like that" and goro is like "don't be stupid i'm a robot i can't die they'd just repair me" and akira is like "speaking of oh my god i can't believe you're a robot-" and goro is like "i know i'm an affront to humanity it must disgust you to look at this laughable copy of the man you once loved" and akira's like "-that's SO FREAKING COOL" and goro's like. "what."

cue soooo much arguing over whether gorobot is the real deal, whether akira gives a shit, and whether goro is deserving of love, etc. because of course akira thinks gorobot deserves the entire world and more and also he thinks goro becoming a robot is the coolest shit ever.

(but also akira isn't very validating of goro's feelings and doesn't want to accept that he *has* changed quite a bit and if he wants to love this version of him he's going to have to accept that.)

so they both have a lot of growth to go through....

This guy can spin his head around like an owl, all the way around (although he has to spin back around to untangle his wires) same with his torso

his default expression is not actually a blank black screen! He has to do that manually (his default is =] )

Less of a headcannon more of a tidbit, in saes palace he screws up the thieves plan because he snatches the fake treasure away from them

Shidos cognitive gorobot constantly has a blank black face despite shido knowing he can change it, since gorobot never shows any other face to shido

Howdy! Gorobot asker here!

One thing I'm really curious about:

What is Goro's relationship with each of his siblings? (Does Pelekys count as one of the siblings? Or is she her own thing? Either way, I'm also curious about how her and Goro would get along).

Pelekys absolutely counts as a sibling!!! (For those that don't know, Pelekys is the name I gave Shadow Labrys.)

Gorobot is extremely close to all three of his siblings. While he thinks he is fake and not real, he will defend the humanity of his siblings to the death (and refuses to acknowledge the hypocrisy of this).

Aegis and Gorobot: They have the most mature relationship of the three. Aegis is like his mature and level-headed (but also sometimes a bit bossy) older sister. Aegis is disturbed by Goro's self-destructive tendencies because she doesn't want to lose him like she's lost so many others, but she also wants to respect his autonomy (it's very important to him, and her, as a fellow robot), so it's really hard for her to watch him hurt himself. They almost seem to have a distant relationship sometimes but they're truly ride or die for one another.

Labrys and Gorobot: Labrys attaches herself to Goro Immediately and they bond over the shared trauma since they both went through terrible shit at the hands of their creators. She's super friendly to him and he almost finds her a bit annoying at first but eventually he becomes endeared to her. Labrys is like his cool and fun older sister.

Pelekys and Gorobot: Pelekys and Goro have a hard time getting along at first. They both can be pretty abrasive and Pelekys is the least mature in the group. But eventually they realize they might be the most similar out of all of them--which means they both get along the least and have the strongest bond. You know how siblings can be. Pelekys and Goro both think of themselves as fake and worthless and an inferior copy of the real thing. They argue a lot but there's a deep love there too. Pelekys and Goro are the two younger siblings of the four that are constantly bickering.

a little thing in gorobot au: akechi had his mother's brown eyes, but when he's put in gorobot's body, while he's given an exact copy of his face (freckles and all) his eyes are replaced by red artificial lenses
