how we feel about Goth Steve Randle? If we like, Headcanons, maybe? Mainly about how the gang reacts? don’t force urself, I’m bein silly
This would probably be a modern au or just in the future (like late 70’s-80’s)
I love alt Steve!! I’ve seen the headcanon around the community and I think it’s so fun!
I’m already of the opinion that he had kind of an emo phase in middle school, but goth is such a unique flavor!
I think he’d specifically be into the traditional goth style since he loves the freeness of it. He prefers the more free and flowing outfits than tight leather and stuff. I headcanon Steve as someone with an affinity for feminine clothing, so I could see being goth as a way for him to explore more feminine styles and makeup.
Maybe matching with goth Evie, too? Like they’re THAT alt couple.
I think his favorite part of it is wearing platform shoes. You know that man adores being even a few inches taller. I also think he does super elaborate makeup looks, none of the boring shit some goth guys do. Steve is committed!!
As for gang reactions, from most to least supportive:
Soda is, of course, the most supportive. That’s his best friend! That’s his best friend being free and expressing himself!! He compliments Steve like crazy and won’t let anyone talk shit. He’s just his biggest fan.
Johnny is a baby alt. He thinks Steve looks so tuff and he tells him all the time. I imagine Steve takes him under his wing and kind of shows him the alternative scene. They buy clothes together and Steve teaches Johnny about makeup.
Dallas is definitely middle of the road to me. He doesn’t get all the elaborate outfits or packing on that much makeup, but I do imagine he’s in the culture. He’s punk, specifically. Like full on battle-jacket, anarchist, garbage pants punk. He and Steve actually help each other DIY clothes, and they make fun of the gang for being “normies.”
Two-Bit is supportive, but he still makes jokes. He calls Steve a ghost on the daily, asks him where the funeral is, even made a joke about him crossdressing once. (He proceeded to never joke about that again when he saw how much it hurt Steve). But, for all the jokes he makes, if anyone messes with Steve, he will beat their ass. At the end of the day, Steve is his brother and he’ll support whatever makes him happy!
I imagine Darry thinks it’s kind of weird? He’s not unsupportive, but I don’t think he would get it. (He was a popular kid in Highschool, what can I say?) Steve shows up in platforms, with a full face of makeup and pitch black clothing, and he just..thumbs up? Hesitantly tells him he looks good? He knows Steve is happy, and that’s all he cares about.
Pony is outwardly unsupportive. He rolls his eyes whenever Soda gushes, and insults Steve whenever he gets the chance. Secretly, though, he thinks it’s so tuff. Whenever Steve shows up in an increasingly complicated outfit, Pony is just like: “DAMN he looks so cool! But I can’t let him know that!” Once he stops being a bratty teenager, Steve gets him into the alt community, too.
