Finley | Year 1 | Autumn
He let the gravity beam pull him up. But this time, he was surprised to see four smiling, green faces to greet him. They put him under again, but when he awoke, they served him a cake with a little baby alien painted on it in frosting and presented him with all the supplies he’d need to raise their offspring.
Alien Technician #1: I believe your species call this a “baby shower.” I do not understand, we are not cleaning the baby in running water, but nevertheless, I wish for my offspring to have a good life - and I was under the impression that the General would choose a suitable host and father for them. Why he chose you remains to be seen - but I do wish you do a good job with my young.
Reese nodded and leapt from the spaceship to the street below.
Alien Technician #2: Be careful! Don’t hurt my embryos!!
Reese: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOUR EMBRYOS?!
Alien Technician #2: FLY AWAY, QUICKLY, FLY, FLY!!!
Reese picked up a rock and threw it at the retreating spaceship, but it was no use. He sighed and hung his head.
Well, he thought to himself, how bad could three possibly be?
He wrapped his arms around himself and shivered as he felt the winter chill overtake him. He brought the furniture inside and laid his weary head down to rest. It would probably be the last good sleep he’d get in a long time.
