grace taking a page out of fucking INCEPTION of all things to have an item on her person that anchors her to reality, and she trains herself to be able to discern if she's in a nightmare or if she's awake post ARK because it all starts blending into each other with her exhaustion, night terrors, and sleep paralysis. it's the old key to the wrenwood hotel that she finds attached to the back of a photo. she's memorized the weight of it, the precise indents of it. she's trained herself that if she is dreaming, the key will appear to look as though it's made of porcelain rather than the original material. this helps her keep track, helps her focus, helps pull her out of the nightmare.

i got a cold and i’m being such a fucking baby about it. which leads me to this thought: grace ashcroft hates being sick and hates someone else taking care of her bc she doesn’t even know what to do with it. she eats saltines, canned soup, and drinks orange juice and won’t take medicine unless it’s absolutely dire. it’s not because she doesn’t believe in medicine or anything like that (alyssa raised her better than that come ON) but she’s very sensitive to meds and they’ll give her tummy aches too ))):

also this is something so important to me regarding grace: your muse is absolutely valid to have parental feelings towards her. but unless you’re alyssa or an adult who knew her when she was a child, she will not react favorably to it and might even bristle. my interpretation of grace is someone who doesn’t want parents — she had a mother. she loved her mother. and now she is an adult with a whole kid now post requiem and doesn’t need or want that particular hole in her heart filled. familial feelings? hell yeah. for sure. but she isn’t looking for anyone to fill a parental role and if someone tries to push that on her, she will very much resist

i think a lot about how i think grace loves a cozy sim game and rpgs but i truly do think she loves playing horror games because it puts her in control of the horror and the terrors and gives her a way through them. i once did a whole paper on horror movies and how there have been studies regarding people with anxiety / ptsd often finding comfort in them and favoring the genre (not all people ofc!!!) and i think horror games absolutely so this for grace. not movies though. because she feels like a bystander with films rather than a moving part with games ok love you all bye
