Whichever way you look at it, there's a heck of a lot of grey to knit through on this Gradient Band Cowl before I get to the pretty colours. It's a nice relaxing knit though and this singles yarn looks fabulous in garter stitch. Plan for today is to get this Gradient Band Cowl off the needles and ready for its recipient. I can't wait to do a before and after blocking photo of this. I feel like showing it to everyone who insists that blocking is unnecessary and they never do it. It looks pretty now but the feather and fan pattern is going to look amazing once it's had a nice soak. Do you have strong views on blocking, or are there things that you never block? I decided to lightly block the Gradient Band Cowl flat before doing the Kitchener stitch to close the loop. I absolutely love how the blocking has really opened out the stitches - check out the photo from a few days ago if you want to see the "before". Nearly there! Just one more mini skein to go and I can call this done. I'm thinking that it might be better to block it flat and then Kitchener it together once it has dried. The "feather and fan" type pattern will really open it once it's blocked and I think it will be easier to get a good amount of "stretch" while it's still flat. That might have to wait until I get home - so I'd better cast on something new to see me over the next few days. Here is my most comforting work in progress, the Gradient Band Cowl by @jojilocat 🖤 It is miles of garter stitch with little pops of lacey ridges, and then completed with a band of gradient in feather and fan.
