It's been awhile.../Graffiti Tree

I realized, albeit somewhat late- that it's been awhile since I've posted something that I've written. So, I figured I'd share what is sadly (because I wrote so little) my main "body of work" for the semester that ended last month. I wrote this poem for my English Literature class. The first paper assignment was for the Romantic Era and one of the options we had was to write a "Romantic" poem and then in an essay talk about how it compares with the Romantic Era ideals etc. If you're interested in how I made the case for this being a "Romantic" poem then let me know.

Graffiti Tree

It’s streaming,

Dripping down-

A fresh scene covers that which once was.

Vines enclosing a message

Never known to these passing gazes,

As the light waxes and wanes

The living skeletons become green again-

A new shade is introduced,

A complex web grows,

Each signature left behind

Creates another piece.
