Yeah...new fundom....yeah....
The mating call of an American who has simply met his limit
Percival, from across the flat: Scamander! 'Mere!
Newt, utterly perplexed: whu, what now? Excuse me?
Percival, suddenly in the doorway: 'Mere.
Newt, suddenly concerned by the intensity being radiated: I...I don't follow?
Percival, still collected, but rolling up his sleeves, with entirely too aggressive eye contact: "'Mere": a degeneration of the contraction "c'mere", stemming from the root phrase "come here."
Percival: 'MERE.
Newt, frantically scrambling away over furniture like a mooncalf caught in a convenience store:
i just want crossover of Sugar (2024) series and The Day of the Jackal (2024) series...
am i asking too much???
Newt returns to his small town for a break, hoping to focus on his book. At Theseus’s urging, he agrees to meet the new mind healer, a psychologist who might help with his lifelong sleepwalking. But Percival Graves is nothing like the wise, elderly figure Newt imagined. Instead, he’s charming and unsettlingly intriguing. What begins as a straightforward doctor/patient relationship soon blurs into something more. But Newt finds himself sleepwalking even more, to Percival’s side, losing track of time, and waking only to discover the man always there. Reality grows hazy, yet Percival remains at the center of it all.
Can’t sleep, so I did a deep-dive of old Gramander fanart. It’s funny. I was OBSESSED with Harry Potter growing up. I went to every midnight book release after watching the first movie in theaters and falling in love with the Wizarding World (of course, that’s not it was called back then). Sure, I had my OTP, and I looked at fanart if I happened to come across it, but I never actually got sucked into the fandom like I did with others. No, that wouldn’t happen until I saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It was like discovering Harry Potter times a thousand.
Maybe it was that I didn’t truly relate to any of the characters in Harry Potter. In the fandoms I get absorbed in, my favorite character usually doubles as the one I feel like I relate to the most. And then I hyperfixate on that character and can’t get enough. Newt Scamander was very much that character for me, and still is. I know there’s all the drama with JKR and… a lot of depressing stuff (and the rest of the FB trilogy was a bit of a disappointment), but I refused to let that ruin the fandom for me.
I adore the Wizarding World, and I adore Newton Artemis Fido Scamander. Fantastic Beasts is just one of the fandoms I make my way back time and again. I’m always delighted to see it, even if I’m rewatching the movie and perusing the same fanfiction and fanart for the nth time. I don’t imagine that will ever change.
they’re quite a duo, the sexual tension was high. I miss them actually
Just a Percival Graves headcanon for your consideration:
- Hidden beneath the bespoke suit and sharply tailored ensemble, the Director is covered in magical tattoos. Symbols designed to protect the bearer from the all the inherent dangers of a risky law enforcement career. I’m thinking powerful sigils or ancient runes
"You know how I could tell it wasn't you?" Newt murmurs softly, throwing caution to the gentle evening breeze that ruffles their hair. There was no need to deny it, the loss of this man before him had nearly unmade him. "Your eyes. They have this effect, like fire in dark water. And…" Newt swallows, hard. "I've only ever seen that...I've only ever... seen it in-"
"In salamanders," Percy finishes his sentence, amused, at the same time that Newt finally manages to vomit the words out. He thinks his chest might bust at the sight of Percy's smile, and the light stretches out like the sun too was delaying it's setting just for them. Like salamanders, but not quite - not even they could evoke the feeling of being pinned down by Percy's gaze. Their moment, sweet as molasses is broken by someone clearing their voice behind him.
