Sixty years ago this summer, throaty-voiced Carrie Nye portrayed the Queen of the Nile in George Bernard Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra onstage at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Connecticut. As The Harvard Crimson raved in August 1963, “The prime virtue of this production is the Cleopatra of Carrie Nye. As she is made up, she looks surprisingly like our current screen Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor; and she has the added advantage of acting ability.” Their critic also noted Nye’s “felinity”: “An occasional huskiness in her vocal delivery suggests she may even have furballs inside her.”
Generation X #9 (vol. 1)
Barons of Adamantium.
The Imperium. Her peoples' ancestral kingdom, they fight now like her own, to stave off the horde of Orks, Traitors and other creatures of the void. Grand Dame Noémie Durand strode slowly, her/their heavy stride would easily crunch the asphalt if she/it did not take care, Dominion was moving inside the city limits of Hive Extrocius, deep inside Imperial waters.
Her/their eyes looked around, the towering spires and hab blocks, the literal maze of pipes and wire bundles, it feels alien to her and her people. Even the largest city of Karseilles was nothing compared to this,, Hive City as the Imperials call it.
"And these Imperials have built bigger cities than this one? Sang sacré,, " Noémie glanced up onto her wide screen, seeing the face of her Adjutant, Charles in his cockpit of the other Knight, Heart of Leon.
"They have a few thousand years head start,, and a couple million serf-slaves who built this place for them. So do not feel awe." Noémie responded, her gaze still on the path ahead of her/it, weapons depowered and swinging slowly in rhythm to help balance the strides. Noémie know remembers the feeling this city was giving her, cramped. It was as if they were walking either in an over grown forest that their forms just barely fits inside, or in a deep cavern.
Not something she enjoys recollecting at this moment. Dominion has the habit of wrestling control with whomever sits upon it's Throne, and from records show in those brief moments,,
Noémie shakes her head violently, cables jostling around behind her helm, clattering against the Throne. "Madame?" Noémie hears Charles speak up over the vox channel, the Knight had stopped in it's stride as her mind wavered for half a heartbeat.
"It is fine Adjutant. Thought I heard something on the auspex, twas nothing. Come on, we still have another few kilometers to cover before we make it out of this accursed ghost town,, hopefully our contact is still here by the afternoon." Noémie briskly answers, before getting herself/themself moving, picking up speed in their stride, the asphalt cracking under the weight.
(Trying to get my Knight House some love and get them to interact with Imperial forces. Be they regular Imperials or other forces within)
The Imp, attempting to start a commotion in the house (which is Against the Rules) with his sister. The illegal action is noticed by the Grand Dame in her basket, who checks to make sure the Enforcers have also spotted the indiscretion.
Yes. Yes they did. Life is so unfair. So are Time Outs. Just ask the Imp.
