It was late. Later than when he would have liked to be going home, but a stack of paperwork had kept him at the office until all hours. With a heavy sigh, he parked the car in the driveway. Oh well, at least it was done now.
He got out of the car and walked up to the door, pausing briefly to unlock the handle, then stepping inside. Pale moonlight barely illuminated the main room, casting eerie shadows on the furniture. He couldn't see anything as he reached for the light, but he stopped suddenly, frozen in place.
Something was...different. He turned his head, looking around when his gaze came to rest on a familiar shape, the silhouette of a man standing near the far wall. He let out a noise somewhat akin to a scoff as realization dawned on him and he turned to face the person, deciding against turning the lights on now. If he wanted darkness, let him have it.
"Descole. What are you doing here?"
