Our yokai boss analysis posts are gonna be on hiatus for a minute. We're currently trying to fester the energy to make them. Hell, we're finally getting back into the groove of constantly making art now so like 😔

Mainly adjusting to a new job + finally getting therapy set up. The brain is broken (body too) but we can fix it i swear

The next one planned is either the re-wrote of McKraken's (which is likely what's holding us up mentally,,, eugh, brain freeze) or moving on to Maddiman and rewriting his at a later date. Sorry if you followed us just for that 🫠

AOS Rewatch

I finally have all the AOS episodes downloaded AND my school now has WiFi -- not strong enough to look at gifs on here but enough to pop on occasionally! I thought about writing fic for each episode but that life seems sadly kind of behind me, so here instead are random thoughts on each episode, mostly Fitzsimmons-centric. More to be added!!

1x01

We first see Ward using a plate that scans a wall looking for a hidden safe (or something). Immediate headcanon that Fitz designed this.

Want to know more about FS’s first meeting with Maria Hill. I really hope Coulson hid in a dark corner like he did for Ward, and I hope Fitz shrieked and fell out of his chair.

Jemma has a horseshoe necklace. (Luck is actually mentioned a few times in this episode.)

I/we often write Fitz as insecure, but his gestures in this ep are SO confident -- the way he flips a “good job babe” thumbs-up and wink to Jemma and his repeated slaps on the back for Ward.

Fitz jokes to Ward about Coulson’s “old crap”. I wonder if they have a funny rivalry between Coulson’s old-but-reliable-and-classy tech and Fitz’s new designs.

I need to know EVERYTHING about bunk placement on the BUS. I could probably figure it out but who has time for that. But I want to know who is loud and annoying in their bunk, whose bunk is the go-to hangout spot, etc.

Fitzsimmons are SO welcoming to Skye. Like, SO nice. Dream friends.

No one on this show can agree on the damn pronunciation of Bahrain.

Fitzsimmons are so fucking cute. I can’t handle it. I will never be over it.

In contrast to last episode’s confidence, here we do actually see Fitz’s insecurity as they go out into the field.

Fitz nearly gets shot at by the rebels before May pulls the van up just in time -- did he freak out about this later?

Fitz is actually really good at explaining his intense science when Ward demands “English”. (He does well again in 1x03.)

The immediate tension between Fitz and Ward is somehow compelling? Like they’re both clearly insecure in different ways and lash out.

I/we often write S1 Jemma as so gung-ho about being in the field, but she expresses regret twice in this episode. Once is specific to Fitz not being ready, but once she just genuinely seems to be doubting her decision.

So the Avengers don’t know Coulson’s alive but some rando people repairing the BUS do...?

Fitzsimmons both remain incredibly perky and excited about this team even after nearly dying a couple times last episode.

Fitz tends to be in plaid while Jemma tends towards polka dots or a pattern that emulates that. Ann Foley showing their preferences for logic and biology (polka dots like cells), maybe?

May hands Skye a big binder of communication to sort through. Like they wouldn’t have that all available electronically.

Jemma is annoyed by Quinn “leaching the Earth’s resources” -- environmental warrior

Fitz uses the curse “Mother of all things!” So Leopold Fitz, if he believes in any god, believes in a female god.

Did Fitzsimmons feel any guilt for helping kill Hall, a man they consider a friend and mentor?

Tyler - Bisexual icon. Have you SEEN the Ivan interactions? I wouldn't be surprised if he had a mini crush on him along with Shelby.

Shelby - Another Bisexual icon. 100% had a mini crush on Kendall in the beginning of the series before falling HARD for Tyler.

Riley - GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY GAY—

Koda - Who needs labels? He's cool with everyone. (Besides, he doesn't know wtf labels are)

Chase - Bisexual in denial. No other words.

Ivan - Honestly? Either an ally, or Bisexual, and I can't decide which one. Probably some flavor of queer though. (Not that he would know labels like that, but yk.)

Philip - ... You're going to tell me this fucker is straight? No. 100% a fruity bastard.

Kendall - Aroace spec, but very specifically Demiromantic Demisexual. It just makes sense in my head-

James - Definitely an ally. He supports his son. 🙏🏽 He might not've understood at first, but he's supportive.

Zenowing - ... Next question. (I don't think he would know what labels are, but he's probably Aroace repulsed.)
