A Quick Announcement...

The FantasyFount Ask Blog will be going on break for the rest of December and will return in 2026!

The reasons why are as followed:

I need to work on my website which will eventually host FantasyFount content.

I need to make sure I don't get art burnout and let myself work on other projects.

I am busy during the holidays preparing other gifts and traveling between family members.

Some other details about the "Hiatus".

I will still be drawing and posting FantasyFount sketches and concepts.

I will still be collecting and reading questions for future potential responses.

Regardless, I hope you all will bare with me and look forward to the Ask Blog's return in 2026! Thank you all so much!

Who are your favorite new characters from Deltarune chapter 5?

A bit obvious but i really like pink and i also like seth and green.

seth because i like purple and nerdy "tactician" characters and green because i do enjoy a splendidlannds creature :)

on the one hand my pkmn anthro project is very ridiculous but in a way that i think a lot of people could enjoy it if i properly realize it.

legends start somewhere is also like my personal unabashed "webcore" project, so even if the execution ends up feeling low-effort or amateurish then it will at least be authentic to the era of pokemon fan projects that im trying to homage through it.

just for reference, my immediate plans for legends start somewhere is to make a photobash/sprite comic that'll go on comicfury, but we'll see how things pan out.

for the past couple of days i've been seeing a long line of posts about kog, da/na terr/ace, and transmisogyny discourse so i wanted to share my stance on how this has played out

the most recent case of discourse about transmisogyny and fandom brings me back to the article about the trans rules of engagement.

i don't see why any queer public-facing figure should feel the need to get into the weeds with this type of stuff anymore. things are so dire for trans people on a policy level right now that trying to take a "damage control" approach to trans rep in media feels like a severe misstep

i do think that creators have a right to try and manage how their works are interpreted but shutting down potential trans headcanons and readings comes off as very gatekeepy and exclusionary now of all times. there's more important needs that need to be addressed than whether or not your creative work passes the purity test for queer rep.

to summarize, lets direct outrage at the shitty anti-trans policy makers instead of getting into fandom discourse to try and exclude trans headcanons. nothing good will come from the latter.

I want to follow-up on this and say that harassing a female storyteller and accuse her of willingly trying to attract terfs to her project's fanbase is also a disproportionate reaction. That's why my final point from earlier was explaining that treating fandom discourse as legit praxis is also an inappropriate way to view this situation (even if you feel like you have no where else to direct your genuine grief and outrage about nationwide bigotry). For goodness sake give queer artists room to make mistakes without going "the damage has already been done".

lets try speaking out against online censorship or anti-trans fear mongering in news media before falling into queer infighting again

i seriously think that at its core the kog discourse is a case of misplaced outrage. the world SUCKS right now for trans women. i GET not wanting to go outside and just try and enjoy cartoons when there is so much rampant bigotry going on outside but i still think that the criticism terr/ace has gotten has been blown way out of proportion as a result of mainstream us news media being flooded with outrageous conspiracy theories from the right trying to tie any public shooting event to a trans woman.

terr/ace's misstep was very ill timed, but all the grief being directed towards her is just because she's an easier target to shame for minor transphobia compared to the media personalities that have manufactured a culture war around trans rights.

also, i may just be out of touch with modern social media etiquette, but blocking a parasocial fanbase who starts flooding your replies with constant criticism even when there's truth to what they're saying is literally a strategy for DEESCALATING conflict which is healthy for all parties.

again, i'm not saying that terr/ace deserves no criticism but this situation has gotten so extreme that we've literally forgotten that one of the reasons people migrated from twitter to bluesky is because twitter threatened to limit their blocking capabilities, which we all agreed was dangerous and would subject users to more harassment, privacy violations, and unhealthy social media habits. people have a right to block people.

final notes: trans women can be butch, queer artists can make mistakes and learn from them, get more yuriful, respect women.

on the one hand, yeah the yaoi vs yuri index ratios stuff are frustrating when you're very immersed in fandom discourse and feminism but at the same time i have some caveats about taking the topic as a serious indication of how many people are "real feminists"

fandom discourse isn't political action (in this case the yaoi versus yuri war is probably not going to have any impact on existing patriarchy)

tumblr and ao3 have underlying problems as websites and platforms that make it hard for me take comparing their tag popularities seriously

quantity not equate quality or popularity (for example, how many sapphic artists would rather create original works or fan works?)

disclaimer: i am trying to distance myself from social media fandom because i'd rather spend my creative energy on my personal website and collaborative fan projects so that has definitely made more cynical about this stuff recently but i've thinking about it lately and wanted to put my thoughts out there

editors note: i am also nonbinary and very non-committal towards my sexual orientation which probably says something about my conclusion on this issue too

...now the brain-rotted tumblrina in me thinks that if the yaoi vs yuri war is real, than that spamtenna video essay should constitute as a war crime within the metaphor.
