Happy belated Greenhithe Day!!!

Yesterday was May 19, the 181st anniversary of the Franklin Expedition setting sail from Greenhithe, England. As per tradition, I baked a cake!

It's the same blueberry cake I've made the past few years (blueberry cake with blueberry icing) because I really love this recipe. I keep tweaking it, though, so every year it's slightly different. Also, my frosting skills are getting slowly better (very slowly, lol)!

It's a little late, but I made my now-traditional blueberry cake for Greenhithe Day!

Usually I like to try out new recipes for Greenhithe Day, but this is the same blueberry cake I made last year because my sister and I liked it so much that we decided we had to make it again. It's blueberry cake with blueberry buttercream frosting. I forgot to add the navy broad arrow I normally draw on, but otherwise it turned out perfect! (And while I'm sure that frosting doesn't look as nicely put on as a professional cake, this is actually an improvement in my frosting skills lol!)

(Welp, I meant to post this yesterday but it got late and I was tired so)

It's that special time of year again! May 19th was the 179th anniversary of the Franklin Expedition setting sail from Greenhithe, England.

As per usual, I made a cake in honor of the occasion! It's blueberry cake with blueberry icing. Every year I think, maybe I should make a non-blueberry-flavored cake, but I really love blueberry and have come to love that Greenhithe Day/Franklin Day has become Blueberry Dessert Day in the entwinedmoon household, so yeah, it's blueberry!

A little belated (it's after midnight here), but Happy Greenhithe Day!

May 19th was the 178th anniversary of the Franklin Expedition setting sail from Greenhithe, England, in 1845. As always, I made a special cake! I wasn't up for too much experimenting this year, so I made a blueberry ice cream cake like last year (but sans the lemon cake part because that required a little too much effort and I wasn't up for it this year). I did, however, try something new--I used food dye to make the whipped cream icing blue, like the ocean!

My frosting abilities are, uh, non-existent, and freehand writing the year was difficult (I had to get my sister to do it because I am Bad at it). But it's a cake! Ta-da!

Yesterday, in honor of the 177th anniversary of the Franklin Expedition setting sail from Greenhithe, England, I made a blueberry lemon ice cream cake (ice cream because it’s cold like the Arctic, blueberry for the blue Royal Navy uniforms, and lemon for the scurvy). This was my first time making an ice cream cake--and my first two-layer cake--and it turned out really well! The frosting doesn’t look perfect, but let’s just pretend that I meant for it to look like an iceberg.
