one of my newer coworkers who works at the front desk asked for "a cheat sheet on plants" and I'm just. All plants. A cheat sheet. I'm very sorry to say that does not exist but if I could download my knowledge into your brain I would.

Got a job working in a national prairie. Any tips for working in the fuck ass heat?

Hydration and electrolytes mostly. Pack snacks and a good lunch, and if the heat makes you not want to eat, liquid meals like protein shakes help. Also, it's surprising how much a good, lightweight sunshirt can be cooling rather than too hot.

I fear I am not the best to give advice on coping with the heat mentally or physically if you really cannot tolerate it because my years of greenhouse work have changed my heat tolerance wildly and I no longer process anything below 100F as truly hot.

My mom's advice has always been not stop moving and make your own cooling wind with your speed lol but I don't mind standing in the heat and just feeling it like a weird lizard.

pulling weeds is weirdly a learned skill that requires way more technical and practical knowledge than people realize

new guy started this week and he is a weirdo in a good way but soft as a newborn baby bird. I feel like i am gently feeding him the easiest of physical tasks and he's a floppy fuzzy hatching with no neck control. also fried to a little crisp his first day. little guy....

yesterday I was telling my coworker that some plants bloom because of stressors "you know like temperature, lighting changes, drought, current political events, etc" and they picked up a snake plant and whispered "today trump blamed a plane crash on diversity"
