I Am a Rock -Simon & Garfunkel
My mom once told me that when she was dating my dad, this was his self-proclaimed theme song. I posted this song on here before. Actually it was around this time last year that I last posted it, I think. Just a couple weeks after my dad had died.
Last time I listened to this song, I listened with a sense of agreement. Angry, mournful, weeping agreement. I listened and sang with the passion and fury of a person who had lost a loved one, and wanted to regain something of them if it was the last thing they did.
"If I'd never loved, I never would have cried."
Now, today, I listen to it with a sense of something else. Not quite agreement, but maybe a ghost of agreement. A ghost of weeping, a ghost of mourning, a ghost of love. A ghost.
