Day 19 - Over the Garden Wall Fanart
Tis the season for watching OTGW~ (although technically not where I live, it's Spring here now, but still, you get the idea)
Come on and join the Adelaide Parade~!
Is it just me, or have we never seen Wirt and Greg give each other a hug? Why is that so?
It’s not just you. I suspect Wirt just isn’t a hugger, and Greg is used to it. You’ll see Greg cuddling the frog a lot, though; the frog can be viewed as a stand-in for the relationship itself (note the way Wirt held the frog after he was filled with remorse for losing Greg).
Here’s some Wirt carrying Greg in his arms from unused storyboards.
I’ve wanted to draw this out for a while. The idea of the Beast as a personification of Wirt’s anxiety and depression is extremely close to my heart.
Anyway, here’s my take on Wirt’s answer to what was definitely Greg’s first question when they were alone together: “How’d you know how to defeat that guy?”
What definitely happened was that Our Frog realized Wirt and Greg were gone, and he said to the other frogs, you kids have tadpoles? And they all said yes, we do!! We love our tadpoles!, and he said well, the bassoon and the drum, they’re my tadpoles, and they all nodded in understanding and let him go.
Greg probably still sucks his thumb.

Something there is that doesn’t love a wall.
