Hey, so I was doing some thinking and came to an idea, and I wanted to run it by you since you're one of the certified FNAF PeopleTM of YouTube.
While I don't think Gregory is literally a robot (he's just a kid mind-controlled by a computer virus), I think people are too quick to brush off the clues/connections that lead to the Gregbot theory. One of those things being the coded message found in Michael Afton's room in Security Breach. It's a coded language written in triangles, which seems to match the descriptions of the coded language used in the books to commmunicate with the Mimic program, and part of that message is a list of actions that are really specific to what Gregory does in Security Breach. Like it's instructions meant for him.
Since the Mimic program in Gregory is a virus, and viruses are codes that can be re-coded/re-programmed, I think the wall message was left by someone with the intention of re-programming the Mimic virus inside of Gregory.
I haven't read the GGY story myself, from what I've heard Gregory's behaviour is pretty different in that story to how he is in Security Breach. There's also the fact that in Security Breach he's actively running away from the Mimic's minions and trying to destroy the Mimic (both the 3 star ending and the Burntrap ending have him do this in some way). So I think it's safe to assume that something happened to the Mimic virus inside of him to allow that change in behaviour before the events of Security Breach. Most people assume it was deactivated somehow, but given how Gregory sees that weird digital filter whenever Vanny gets too close and the Mimic is known to affect how its host sees the world around them (and also that one line in SB where Gregory thinks a rolling door is a moving wall, and in the books the Mimic proccesses a door as a wall when the handle is removed), I think the Mimic programme is likely still active in Gregory during Security Breach. It's just been re-programmed so instead of following the Glitchtrap programming of murdering people, it's following the new programming from the wall code to destroy the Mimic (could be referring to the physical Mimic or the Mimic program/system running the PizzaPlex or both) and set everyone free.
What do you think, does this hold water? And if it does, who do you think wrote the wall code out for Gregory to find so the virus in him could be re-programmed?
(Love your FNAF content. Hope you have a great day. :])
The code matching the description of the code in the book is actually incorrect (no triangles INSIDE of triangles, swirls, math, etc), and it's scribbled by Edwin inside the Storyteller housing the Mimic program, but isn't used to communicate with it, at least that I noticed. That being said, I do agree that a lot of people just...overlook the evidence that's typically used for Gregbot/the code referring to Gregory, and I agree that the code was intended to "reprogram" him in a way. I lean Gregbot cuz idk what else "I built the breath they hunt now drawn to life not real still keen" followed by a description of Gregory's actions in Security Breach would mean it Gregory wasn't the not-real life being hunted (I could see an argument for that being about the Mimic maybe, but the phrasing and fact that the entire rest of the thing describes Gregory makes me disinclined to believe that. All good that you disagree though). However, whether it be because he's literally a robot or can be reprogrammed by someone via the Glitchtrap code, I think it holds some weight! Though not really about destroying the Mimic, since the instructions are JUST to deal with the Glamrocks, and nothing about getting rid of either Glitchtrap (who I believe is controlled by William even if he used the Mimic program as a base) or the Mimic. But yeah, I think it holds water and is a neat theory!
As for who wrote the code, I'm mildly suspicious it's Edwin. We technically never see his body in SOTM, and even if the code isn't a match for the book, it's not like things aren't changed from said book a LOT and Edwin has familiarity with robot people and programing AI. I don't have many firm thoughts on who though. Could be Michael cuz it's his room, though I believe Glammike so in that situation it wouldn't work. Maybe Henry if he survived, wouldn't put it past him with how I'm in camp "yeah the fire didn't do much more than delay the IRL in universe suffering due to UCN keeping everyone around"
Anyway, I am now somewhat inspired to make an "in defense of Gregbot" video, and as my motivation for video stuff has been flagging a bit I appreciate that even if I can probably assume that is not what you were intending 😅 Thanks for the ask!
WARNING! UNPOPULAR FNAF OPINONS AHEAD! (Gregbot)
I like the concept of Gregory is a robot and that Glamrock Freddy could be possessed, not so much that Gregory is Dave/The Crying Child & Glamrock Freddy is Michael. Might just be me wanting all the aftons to stay dead, but I believe Henry and Edwin to some extent have just as much reason to be GL Freddy as Michael does. They both fit the narrative of not being able to protect their lost children, while also connecting them to fires. My friends are here referring to the animatronics they built and felt a kinship to, while 'she' could be M1/F10-N4. (Plus, a Dad and his son are much more fitting to GL Freddy and Gregory's situation than an older and younger brother.) As for Gregory, yes I do agree he has some sort of connection to the 3 other characters named Dave/David in this franchise, I'm hesitant to say that he is one of them. Although, I think I prefer that he's just M2 after the secret ending of SOTM, and that's how we find the mimic in ruin. Like what Candy Cadet said 'The mother caught the monster and kept it locked in the basement', this implies that the mimic (the monster) was free (escaped the pizzaplex) until either Vanessa or F10-N4 caught him and locked him up in the basement. In addition, because the mimic utilizes one of the very first lines in Security breach said by Gregory I believe it's safe to assume that M2 was somewhere in Freddy's greenroom at the start of the game, so why not just be Gregory himself, or even Freddy for that matter? Also, if there was ANY character that could make themself so compact as to fit in Freddy's stomach hatch, it would be the mimic. Kinda explains how we can see through Freddy's eyes when we pilot him around too. Gregory essentially being a refashioned M2 could also explain the design differences between Ruin mimic and SOTM mimic. Michael aftons room smack in the middle of the pizzaplex would still be kind of a loose end though. Maybe its Michael's message to Gregory or perhaps someone else to destroy the GL animatronics and save those with soul?
Ik I shouldn't post something like this cuz the theories pretty much meh or ppl don't like it or I'll prolly get some hate but Idc
Yes this is a security breach au and yes ik Gregory ain't a robot and glam freddy ain't mike ehdbehjd but in this au.. their pretty much that.. Greg is a bot, android(?) created to resemble cc, he has his own personality and can't recall being cc or his past life(?).
Edit: also Greg is like a mechanic android or smth ig
Freddy ofc has deviated from his programming and somehow regain memories of being mike, he doesn't know why this android(?), robot has a uncanny resemblance to his lil bro and he doesn't know why this android gives him a stinky eye..
Also the world here sorta has robots, androids exist and lives(kinda like Detroit..)..
That's all idk what else
Idc I just like making au for these theories hehe, cuz why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Y’know what I’m hoping for? That GlamMike is true, that GregEvan is true, Vanessa is Mrs. Afton, and that the girl from the Ruin DLC is Elizabeth. Why? Because the thought of the entire Afton family coming back with the sole purpose of kicking Peepaw’s a$$ is funny.
They were all big chillin’ for a while until Michael saw his father was still on Earth and said, “Nah, fam, we gotta go back.”
Dream Theory Is Not Canon And Never Was
So I typical avoid addressing on MatPat and The Game Theorist as a whole directly say for sometimes when I think it is relevant. This is one of those case because MatPat basically created this "theory" and has tried many times to claim it was Scott's original intention. Alongside claiming he got this right and implying Scott changed it because he was right but also because people wouldn't like Dream Theory being correct.| This bit of information has lead to many FNAF Fans themselves believing Dream Theory was the originally intention or is even possibly still canon especially thanks to a misinterpretation of Five Nights At Freddy's VR: Help Wanted. So I'm going to point out the Smoking Gun on why Dream Theory is not only not canon, but was not Scott's original intent for the first 4 games.
So leading up to Five Nights At Freddy's: Ultimate Custom Night Scott made some joke posts about the game by updating the character guides of some characters on Steam, and would later update them, to their correct descriptions. These include.... Nightmare Fredbear “He appears suddenly in your office holding an alarm clock. You have only a moment to press the button and activate the alarm. If you press the button in time, you will awaken in your bed for ten seconds before falling back asleep and continuing the night.” Foxy “He will run into your office when things are looking dire and offer to help you. You can choose one of three ways for him to assist: He can block one door, clear the vents, or add 1% more power to your meter.” Phone Guy “He will call into your office at random, creating a lot of noise and momentarily increasing the aggressiveness of the animatronics. He cannot call, however, if Springtrap is in the vents, because he can't be in two places at the same time.” What is noteworthy is these are all based on old FNAF "theories." Like Foxy being a good guy in Five Nights At Freddy's 1 and is just checking in on you. Alongside the "theory" that phone guy was the killer. These are incorrect theories, and alongside them is Dream Theory even referencing the the alarm clock which MatPat focused on in his "theory." This would seem to imply through these jokes that Dream Theory alongside these other "theories" are not correct.
Scott seems to make a habit of this, as seen in the special tease for the movie Scott released Freddy in Space 3: Chica in Space. This joke game references all kinds of things from the fandom included Adult Theory. In this game there is a boss that is making a joke about Gregory being well a robot.
Finally I would like to note this Five Nights At Freddy's 1: Movie seems to further back this up. The movie makes references hoaxes in it like the Sparky the Dog hoax, and even has William Afton the killer be the Phone Guy in this movie. Alongside it the movie features none other than Dream Theory. So the movie basically contains several "theories" and even hoaxes that were incorrect in the games. Written by Eris
So I have a Gregbot AU but it's not him being the crying child. In my AU he's actually a replacement for David Murray, during when Edwin was grieving. Edwin finished the robot but he couldn't bring himself to activate it. Leaving it to rot in a basement or something till Fazbears co. found it. But instead of Fazbears finding him first, Micheal does. Gregory was made to replace someone's son but doesn't have David's memories. SO when he sees Micheal he believes he's his dad. Ever since then he doesn't leave Mike's side and follows him even when Mike says no. At first Mike didn't obviously want a kid, but Gregory followed him into his car.. without him knowing! 😆
ANYWAYS FOR THIS POST
In RUIN Gregory says "WE can't risk being followed." In my AU Mike made Gregory drop the elevator for their safety and everyone else's, but.. Greg went back for Cassie. 😨
