ooc | Melisenda & Gresilda
these sisters!!!!! wow!!!!!!
Okay, so gresilda is the eldest and being four years older than melisenda, I feel like there was a time (which melisenda would deny to her grave!!!!) where mellie thought gresilda was!!!! the greatest!!!!! thing!!! in the entire world!!!!
Also, if I remember correctly, the Wystans also had a bro who was twins w/ Gresilda who was a dragon rider??? And yeah, so both of them were suPER amazing as far as Melisenda was concerned!!! (I can’t remember what we decided for the Wystan parents but I think we decided that they were pretty hands off parents haha which kind of accounted for how different their kids turned out to be?? It kind of works with my headcannon that there was a time where mels wanted to be jUST like her brother and sister!!! and didn’t even really have any idea that, gresilda at least, was considered weird for her non-ladylike behavior.Â
(Also i cry!!!! b/c I feel like gresilda taught young melisenda all kinds of actuALLY useful things!!! and now melisenda has repressed thoSE memories b/c god dammit she will NEVER make a fire herself!!!! and if you asked, she nEVER has!!!)Â
I do think that Melisenda just wants to feel loved and adored b/c she felt very neglected by their parents and instead, got that kind of affection from her siblings (also can see where they would have potentially spoiled her??? if not gresilda then perhaps their brother?)
But then she got older and met other people and realized that her sister was a ~freak and that she diD nOT want to be like her at all and stopped spending any time w/ her and just got herself a bunch of shallow friends and they’d just sit around working on their appearance and making fun of gresilda’s??? #whoops and melisenda thrived off of the attention/admiration/feeling of superiority she felt from it all and really hasn’t been the same since
I do think deep down she still cares about her sister but you wouldn’t know it to talk to her about it. I think Gresilda has been super embarrassing for her and Melisenda would constantly blame her lack of suitors on Gresilda tbh like “no one wants to have someone like you as a sister-in-law” and was basically like “good riddance” when she left (also I feel like Amia was also competition b/c she was prettier and kinder and even though she was the youngest wystan was probably still the most appealing haha -- not that melisenda would eVER admit that amia is a better catch than she is but she’s glad she is gone too .... although it grates on her that both sisters are gone and she’s sTIll verY single ahha but she still likes to think that the damage has already been done and no one wants to marry gresilda or amia’s sister especially since amia walked out on normand vipont!!!)Â
Anyway, this is getting very long haha but these are my initial thoughts!Â
