Day 8: Bottle

Fae Yuugi returns and he’s grumpy because he got caught.

I was so nervous inking this one because I decided to use my pocket brush pen, and the sketch was fairly small. I literally had to use a feather-light touch on the thinnest lines. At first, I regretted this decision but once I did the ink washes, it came together. Then I came back in with my quill for the filigree on his face, wings,  and hatching. Something simple because it’s Monday.

Inktober Day 10: Royalty

I had a heck of a time trying to sketch this one, which is why it’s late. I couldn’t come up with a concept that worked on this size paper with good composition. Luckily I had some lovely people help me out with suggestions and I went with Yuugi cosplaying a favorite king. ;) I didn’t add any more color or tones because I want to revisit this and add more colors later, though it may need to be digitally because I had to use white ink and gouache on his face after my quill had a bit of a mishap.

Inktober Day 13: Tranquil

SO UM I haven’t drawn Wishshipping yet and it feels like a CRIME? SO HERE WE ARE. I am in love with how this turned out <3 Heavily heavily inspired by what I saw in my head while writing an RP thread with @luckyredeyes who my Yuugi ships with. ^^ 

I wanted a soft look, so I toned with Dr Ph Martin’s brown India ink, diluted with water.

Inktober Day 15: Warrior

I decided to take it easy today and focus more on inking than anything else. I’m so rusty at hatching, so I do need more practice, but I’m happy with how this one went. 

I always liked how that virtual world armor looked on him, so I just had to give it a go~ anything high fantasy is my other aesthetic, which made its mark on me just as much as Victorian literature did. Also hello I am Grey and do not have a consistent eye style anymore because it’s fun to experiment. 

With that, I am officially halfway through Inktober...this is surreal. I never thought I’d actually get this far and still have stamina. This is the first time I’ve successfully done anything like this before!

Inktober Day 3: Insect (I got creative and went Fae with it )

I have decided I don’t like the quality of my scanner, it looks so much better in real life; some areas of this are legit blurry and I don't know why! If I can get better scans of my work I’ll have to go back and rescan them.

I recorded the process here as well! I’ll post when it’s been uploaded. I use various ink pens: Pentel, Prismacolor, and Uniball Signo gel pens. I also used Arteza Real Brush Pens again for the pops of color as well as his shirt and hair. Fun fact: the white spots in his hair and on his shirt is very fine glitter that somehow ended up all over my brushes, so this drawing sparkles in person!

Inktober Day 4: Feathered.

I filled up about ten pages in my scratch sketchbook trying to come up with a good composition for Harpy!Yuugi, so it just goes to show that thumbnails are important!

I’m really proud of how this one turned out! The brush pens are a bit more difficult to control as opposed to watercolors because marker ink isn’t really designed to move in the same way. But I’m really having fun with these! I don’t usually work with limited color palettes but it’s a fun challenge!

  Inktober Day 5: Clock

This is one I’d probably do again, I wasn’t completely focused on it, and my camera battery died even though I charged it the other day. ._.  I did feel like this one needed colored ink because there was so much black, and I’d messed up in some areas that needed more coverage. The darkest blacks were done with Higgins Ink and a paintbrush, I haven’t used it in so long and I found it doesn’t bleed on this paper! Note to self, Canson XL watercolor paper is terrible for watercolor, but great for this ink.

As for the subject, ever since I saw Jujuoh’s Yuugi bunny I was inspired to draw an updated version of the bunny Yuugi I drew years ago but never shared. ( I was a shy bean with my art at times) Of course, I drew lots of inspiration from their design for this, he’s so cute!

Not much to say on the compoisition on this one other than I was thinking of surrealism while doing my thumbnails and this one stood out. Yuugi is a rabit because...I was also thinking Alice in Wonderland for some reason?
