EVERY TIME - a poem of grief
Every time I look at you, I fear that I will cry
You have your father’s smile
You have his blue grey eyes.
Every time I hear you speak
It’s his voice that I hear
His softly spoken words
Never again to hear
Every time I think of him
My spirit downcast, blue
I’m grateful in my heart
That he lives on in you
My late husband’s birthday is on Friday. Needless to say, he’s been on my mind a lot lately.
In June it will be eleven years since he passed. Eleven. It hurts my heart.
