Happy holidays! I once again participated in the annual secret santa event that's hosted in Loish's discord and this is the piece I made for CozyNookArt this year!
Update
Got a new icon, which as you may notice is just the inverse of my old icon, because I’m using the other one for my newly launched artblog! I got a bit sick of having everything jumbled up in one place so from now on I’ll post my art there and keep the other stuff here. You can find my artblog at https://grifxdraws.tumblr.com/", aka my old url for this blog.
Finished the ref sheet for one of my main GW2 ocs finally! Been working on it in preparation for ArtFight. (If anyone else is on Artfight you can find me here btw.)
I have some old ones I'm hoping to update too, since I made the original version of this ref sheet template before the VoE specializations were announced. Also those currently only use screenshots and no drawings yet.
Oh and I drew her a quick thumbnail picture too. I'm not sure how I like it overall since I feel like you can tell it was done hurriedly, but I am really happy with how the visor came out.
Twas my birthday yesterday, which means another self-portrait. I didn't feel like doing my traditional silly pose with a slice of cake thing this year so instead I made a regular illustration this time around
Took a break from artfight for vacation, but now I'm back with my second attack! This cutie belongs to @pokepaws
I'm definitely not the first to do this, but since @lavendertowne dropped a tutorial for emulating her artstyle in her latest vid about salty AI bros (a real power move tbh) I absolutely had to try it out myself, which was so fun!
Alright so this is kind of a funky one but lemme give some background.
There's a post that's been going around on Bluesky talking about how the only people who will ever be successful at art are those who are "naturally gifted" at it and that learning how to draw is like a hazing process that nobody enjoys. And obviously that's bullshit, humans have been making art for literally all of history, they're not doing that because they hate it. But you hear that kinda talk about different skills all the time, pretending that it's only ever available to those who are born naturally talented and in the process completely dismissing all the effort that people put in to learn their craft. Anyway that inspired me to find the oldest drawing I still had and redraw it. So I found back this old drawing I made for school when I was 4 years old. The assignment was to draw a self portrait, hence why there's text at the bottom that reads This is me. As you might be able to guess, mine wasn't super accurate. Obviously I'm way better at drawing now than I was back then, but that's because in the 21 years since I made that drawing I kept going and kept learning, because I simply enjoyed making art and wanted to be good at it. It's not mere natural talent that got me from where I started to where I am now and it's the same for every other artist out there
Took me a bit to get started but I got my first attack of the year done! This lovely ink cap gal belongs to @feefal
