To this day, I still feel spicy when I read or hear "Sims 4 has the best build mode." I flash back to my futile attempts to delete an individual floor tile in my first build when the game was young. Pretty sure you can delete individual floor tiles now??? But! I will never forgive or forget.
My belief always was that the Sims 4's build mode streamlined some things that helped make building easier, but simultaneously restricted the way you built to keep those features from breaking. The Sims 2, imo, requires more trial and error, but I still think you have a lot more freedom in Sims 2's build mode once you know what you're doing.
