Fucking… sad that Eight Lamentations will never get a sequel novel because I really need to know what the fuck is going on between Volundr and Grungnir.
Like, Volundr noting that he expected “one, but not both” when seeing Grungnir again and noting that the god seems both angry with him, and sad for him.
The fact that Volundr is a former slave that chose to serve Khorne over continuing to work with Grungnir, because he saw whatever Grungnir was offering him as “more chains” and I really wonder what he means with that.
The fact that Grungnir still sees the curious but scared child with lash marks, instead of one of Khorne’s most favored men (also the Forgemasters of Khorne are such a cool concept).
Adding to that, being redeemed of falling to the forces of chaos is possible, and while I do not think that Grungnir will succeed - hell, dude thinks there’s something worth saving in fucking Archaon. He’d definitely try for his student, especially because he seems to view all smiths in a parental manner.
