The Grand Tasting took place at the Carrousel du Louvres last Friday and Saturday. The 9th edition of this Wine fair was a real success. The #GT2014 was the perfect place to taste the best Bordeaux and Burgundy wines, and to talk with some of the best and most rigorous french vineyard owners, wine makers and cellar owners.
The Grand Tasting also enabled you to sip foreign wines such as Möet Hennessy estates & wines ( the great Terraza and Cheval des Andes) and Baron Philippe de Rothschild foreign vineyards.
Here are part of my tasting notes of this Grand Tasting 2014 edition.
I had a little crush on Château Kirwan second wine, Charme de Kirwan 2011. I liked even better than the first wine of Château Kirwan.
Château Kirwan 2010 was much stronger in alcohol. On the nose, woody aromas, and vanilla. On the palate red fruits. Magnitude. Tannins well balanced.
Phélan Ségur, 2008 was intense, an explosion on the palate. 2006, was more refined, more delicate than the 2008. My favourite was the 2008.
Château Godeau 2011 : very good value/price
Dauvergne Ranvier, Côte Rotie. On the nose, strong jasmine.
Roederer, Vintage 2007. On the nose, nuts, aged fruits. On the palate, generous and broad, but also quite acidic.
