She’d never thought that Rocket would ever feel anything but friendship toward her. She’d never seen him so much as waggle a brow suggestively at anyone without weapons to give context to his interests. But then...she’d never seen him act with anyone else the way he acted with her. Never saw him quite as at ease, or affectionate, with the rest of the crew.
And she’d never allowed herself to think too hard about how she felt, because...
She didn’t like admitting to weakness. That much they absolutely had in common. And maybe that was part of why she threw herself head-first into danger, like he did. Maybe they were both afraid..and afraid of being afraid.

Harley slowly knelt down, not liking towering above him as she tried to cut herself open for him, to be vulnerable when her mind kept screaming at her to just make a joke, get him to laugh, and run away from this.
