The day that the heroes took interest in your small pastries and sweets shop was the day you realized you needed a bigger staff. It was a slow day when all of a sudden a group of pros came in looking for something to complement their palettes. Their tastes were all over the place but that wasn’t the issue. The issue came in the form of the quantity they wanted. They demanded twelve orders of Daifuku, seven of Dango, and forty-two orders of Dorayaki. Those were just for one group, you had six waiting outside for a chance to order. Your staff rushed to complete everything while you helped take orders. Too many people and very little time. You rushed outside to take the other pro’s orders and quickly ran back inside to help your staff prepare everything.
“L/n, this- this is nuts.” One of your staff members commented as they helped you carry some of the trays lined with Dorayaki, you holding the Dango.
“I know, it’s insane. We’re in a great place but this is too much.” You continued to fulfill orders till every customer and pro was taken care of. Your staff was tired and so were you, you decide to send them home to rest while you stayed behind to clean up everything.
As you moved around the shop, you dimmed down the lights as you walked from room to room. You were wearing headphones so you weren’t able to hear the sounds coming from outside. The night was clear and you could see people walking around going about their business. It was peaceful, but that quickly changed when you heard a loud crash coming from the other front entrance to your shop.
You turned around to look at what happened and what you see is a 6’3 figure slowly standing up after crashing into the glass window that belonged to your shop. He groaned as he straightened himself and shooked his head to get rid of the glass that stuck to his hair. He turned around to look at where he crashed into and noticed you holding the mop with a confused expression decorating your face.
“Oh, hello! I’m so sorry for, ah- hah, destroying your window. I’ll pay for it to be replaced.” The large man gestured with his hands towards himself. He then bowed to you.
“I’m deeply sorry.” You didn’t hear a single thing that the man in front of you said but you understood that he was lamenting for the shattered window.
“It’s fine. Uh- you should probably leave?” The man shook his head and kicked some of the broken glass towards the wall, gathering it. He quickly threw himself out of the same windowless window and began to run. That was the first time you saw the hero you would come to know as Gunhead.
As promised, the man who introduced himself as Gunhead, replaced your shop’s window with a more resilient one. You sent a letter to his agency to thank him for sticking to his word and that you were grateful that he was taking care of the area your shop resided in. What you didn’t expect was to receive a letter back. His was filled with thank yous to how you didn’t get angry with him that night and that he wasn’t aware that the business he crashed into had such a well-rounded assortment of sweets.
“I have a bit of a sweet tooth myself so I was wondering if you would allow me to properly come in instead of crashing through your window.” You had no idea how he managed to add so much character in a letter but you found yourself smiling at it and accepting him into your shop.
The two of you began a fun and active friendship surrounding the way you both met. Him making jokes about falling for your sweets without needing to try them first as you teased him about breaking the window out of eagerness. Gunhead did explain what the situation was that night, he had been thrown towards your shop by a villain he was trying to capture, unfortunately, the villain had the upper hand.
“Yeah, still sorry about that. Ah- how about we just eat some of your delusions treats?” He’d always become a flustered mess from your teasing, his gaze avoiding your own as you’d watch him.
He was the definition of a gentle giant with you. Not once did he ever raise his voice with you but even as he was doing hero work he still kept his gentle demeanor.
The more time spent together the stronger your relationship became. Gunhead would walk you to your shop early in the morning and wait till you go off at night. The entire time holding you close to him in an affectionate hug. This was a normal thing for friends to do, right? Your staff teased you about your closeness with Gunhead, the constant kissing noises and swooning gestures that were thrown at you every time you both spoke had increased as Gunhead made himself at home in your shop.
“L/n, you should give him some of our special mochis. I’m sure he’d love to try it out.” Your staff had been brainstorming cold sweets for the upcoming summer months. It would become hot and it usually brought a great influx of tourists with. Gunhead had been coming in often to try out some of your new add ons on your menu but your staff seemed too insistent on him trying the mochi.
“Ah, sure. I can call him in to see if he wants any.” You were blind to your staff’s intentions.
Gunhead came in around midday with some of his sidekicks in tow. They all greeted you as they walked inside while Gunhead came up to you and hugged you the moment he got the chance to.
“Hey, L/n. Anything you want me to try out for you?” You nodded and told him to sit down with his intern at a table they could find.
You went into the back and pulled out the mochi that your staff had prepared but you had to make a double-take. It had a confection of heart-shaped sweets and fruit surrounding the main treat. It was all decorated like it were a special commission, a gift for a romantic partner. You couldn’t help the blush that spread across your face, what was your staff thinking? You swallowed down your embarrassment grabbed the platter, taking it out to the back to Gunhead and his interns. Hen you get to his table his interns weren’t sitting with him, instead, they sat at a table across from him essentially leaving the giant mint-haired man to himself.
“Hiya Gunhead, i- uh, have some new treats on the menu and wanted you to try them out.” You couldn’t help the awkwardness that seeped out of your voice nor the blush that didn’t want to leave. Gun head found it adorable but once he looked at the platter he couldn’t help the blush on his face.
“Oh-that’s- that would be great, yeah. Um, do you- i-” You both were too embarrassed to speak properly. He didn’t understand if this was you confessing to him and you didn’t understand if he felt uncomfortable around you or not. With shaky hands, Gunhead brought the cold treat to his face and lifted his mask to uncover himself. He took a bite of the sweet treat and allowed it to dissolve in his mouth. It was like heaven.
The mochi had a sour to sweet transition, gentle in its filling and chewy outside. It was perfect. Gunhead enjoyed every bite and every moment he had with the first treat, so he was sure that he’d enjoy the next one that followed. He ended up clearing the platter of all the sweets you gave him, a dopy smile present on his face once he finished.
“Thank you so much for the treats L/n. It’s been some time since I’ve had good mochi. Ah, question though.” You were both dreading this. He was going to ask you why the platter of sweets had a romantic presentation and you weren’t emotionally or mentally capable of handling the tension.
“I’m sorry?” Gunhead’s face was red and only becoming hotter, your own was becoming hotter as well.
“I-” He took a deep breath and stared at you right in the eyes.
“So hypothetically speaking if I had a crush on you, would you say yes to a date with me?” He watched your eyes widened and began to backtrack.
“I- I mean, it’s a hypothetical its not like I’m planning- well-”
“I would!” Now it was his turn to look at you surprised.
“If you did hypothetically like me, then I would say yes.” He couldn’t calm down his racing heart. The joy of you possibly saying yes was not helping him relax.
Maybe it was the sugar from the treat you gave him, maybe it was his normal disposition, he didn’t know. He was so elated by your answer that he just acted. He got up from his chair and pulled you to him. His chest hitting you square in the face and his arms covering nearly your entire upper half. You never paid too much attention to his physic but this was up close and personal. He was incredibly muscular and overly hot to the touch. It didn’t help that the shop was also warm.
“I know I said hypothetical but can I say it as fact. Would you go on a date with me?” He gave you the cutest smile he could manage.
“Yes. I would like that.” You both smiled at each other as he picked you and spin you around. You were finally someone he could call his.
“So, since we’re dating- well I guess going on a date, does this mean that I can get more of your sweets.” You tapped the tip of his nose and laughed with him.
“Sure, just as long as you don’t eat my shop out of stock.” You both stared at each other, so much love in your gases. You were so stuck in the moment that you didn’t notice his intern nor your staff take pictures and squeal in excitement. Their ship was now sailing and they couldn’t wait to see what would come out of it.
could you please do glow response with gunhead? it's the one of the few soulmate tropes i've never heard and i'm kinda excited to see what it is ☺️
During festivals, you hardly need streetlights at night.
People can dampen their glow, of course, especially after they’ve been with their soulmate for a long period of time, but festivals and celebrations of any kind seem to bring out the glow in people, unprompted. Soulmates walk down the street in twos or threes, trailing light behind them like fireflies.
It’s.. Hard, not to envy them.Anyone who hasn’t found their soulmate kind of sticks out, especially if you’re an adult. Children are pressed in close to their parents, bathing in the soulmate glow, but you..
“Soon,” you promise yourself, though you honestly have no idea when you’ll find your person. You take a step, and then gasp, nearly bowled over before large hands are closing over your shoulders, keeping you from falling onto your face.
“I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching-” he says, voice kind and flustered, and then people start clapping and whooping. He sets you on your feet and you’ve half a mind to run because you did not want attention over something like this- and that’s when you realize that you’re glowing.
Gunhead is kind, and charming, and as sweet as god damn sugar - which is so at odds with the hero name Gunhead that it's almost funny.
"Everyone is always so surprised," he exclaims, hands on his hips as he watches a couple of teens walk away, giggling and glancing at him over their shoulders.
"Your hero name, while apt, doesn't exactly spark thoughts of a buff, jovial man," you explain, taking a sip of your drink.
Gunhead turns your way, though you can't actually tell whether he's looking at you or not. "...what do you think of when you hear my name?"
"Not anything I want to share on a public street," you mutter, trying to ignore your growing smile.
7. gentle with pro hero gunhead, he's just such a sweetie
“I honestly don’t know how you do it,” you tell him with a sigh, tugging gently on a lock of his hair until he’s leaning forward. You press a quick kiss to his helmet, smiling when a small sigh of happiness reaches your ears.
“Not that I’m complaining about the compliments- by all means,” Gunhead says with a shrug. “But what is it that’s unbelievable?” He stands, and you’ve half a mind to toss your arms around his neck, just to keep him closer for a few minutes longer. You don’t. But you think about it longer than you’d like.
“Walk that line of strictness and being gentle. People adore you,” you murmur, and tap a knuckle against his chest.
“Do you adore me?” He wheedles, and you can hear the smile he’s sporting behind his mask.
“You’re a glutton. Yeah, I do adore you. And now I’m kicking you out so everyone else can get a little turn.”
“I’ve always liked dancing,” he explains, carefully taking you through the steps again. “The grace of it?” Gunhead sighs, and the wistfulness of his voice has your chest clenching.
“Twirl me, then,” you ask, smiling a little shyly at him when he hesitates.
“Uh- yeah! Sure! We’ll just-” For just a moment, you wonder if it’s your imagination, that he’s twirling you closer to him, and not further away. That was the whole point of the exercise, after all, adapting things like dancing into fighting styles. But when you come to sudden stop, his arms are around you, and Gunhead’s fingers are slightly damp with sweat.
“I.. I like it too,” you say, voice soft. “Dancing.”
You can hear him swallow, and for a moment, you’re afraid he’s going to back away, going to turn this all back into an explanation, but- His pulse is racing under your touch.
Gunhead is charismatic. Maybe not suave - it's a little difficult to be when one is wearing a mask that completely covers their face. But he's a people person. He likes them, likes being social, and gentle teasing, and... The thing is, you never thought it was more than that. You've only ever met him on duty, and he's a responsible, upstanding hero. He shouldn't be flirting. He shouldn't be starting assignations on the job.
And technically, he didn't. You were the one who took that teasing from casual jokes to... slightly lewd suggestions. Still all in good fun, and then he joked back, and then-
His breath is coming heavy, and his mask is still on, muffling the pretty noises he's making. The heat of him in your hands, and the way he says your name? You feel like you're going to shatter as soon as he touches you. You can't wait for it, but first, you want to see him fall to pieces.
Can i get some headcanons with Gunhead? His S/O lost their right arm during a fight against a hero, so now they’re retired. How would he help them when they’re struggling, having a bad day with their prosthetic and break down crying because they no longer feel useful? Thanks!
ooooo, I’ve never written for Gunhead before! I imagine he’s probably a total sweetheart
It, quite literally, breaks his heart when he hears how useless you feel. Gunhead is a kind and empathetic man, and having someone so close to him doubt themselves pains him as well.
He’s very kind an gentle, and helps anyway that he can. He’s always asking what he can do; if there’s something he can fix with your prosthetic? It’s done. Fix your favorite meal? Of course! Anything you want? He’ll bring the stars out of the sky if you asked.
Usually, when you have days like this, he wraps you up in his hold and let you cry and rant-- whatever you need to do to let all the negative feelings come out.
He’ll rub your back or stroke your hair, speaking soft and encouraging words to you all the meanwhile. He has a very gentle and comforting voice when need be, and it helps soothe your nerves after you’ve cried yourself out.
Afterwards, he points out all the good things you have ever done-- a long list he compiled to make sure you could know just how useful you’ve been, and how useful you’ll always be.
