I am now officially a Brand Manager
Jack Bauer, Maverick, Rubber Ducky and The Great Wall (aka Wolverine) headed out in convoy to a cattle farm on Wednesday morning. We were ready and raring to go after completing our four‐wheel drive training.
Our destination was a cattle farm owned by the Gumatj Aboriginal Corporation. The cattle farm provides the meat sold in the new shop in Gunyangara ‐ the community where I'm living for 6 weeks.
After a night sleeping under the stars, we started early the next day to help out potential Farmer Wants A Wife contestant, Tom, with some fencing.
We fixed barbed wires and droppers to about 4km of fences. At one point we were monitored by a couple of feisty looking buffalo, speedily shooed off through the forest by Tom in his truck.
To end Day One on the cattle farm we rounded up the cows.
I say ‘we’ as though I was lassooing them personally. But us secondees watched from the back of the trailer as the farmers and the kelpies, Jack and Jill, did all the hard work.
Day Two on the cattle farm was taking things to the next level.
Back in Sydney I am a Brand Manager; here in North East Arnhem Land I am expanding my branding skills to include the combination of a hot iron poker, some brute force and a cow.
My branded cow #1

A visit out to Dhanayna Beach and a beautiful sunset wrapped up our camping trip on the cattle farm.
