Incentive to practice Korean

I bought some shoes today and I totally got ripped off by 10,000...but it was my own fault.

I successfully asked how much the pair was in Korean and he replied with sam cheon...something or other.

I know my numbers, but it always takes me a sec to register sam=3 and sa=4. He saw my hesitation and realized I wasn't all the way Korean. He brings out a calculator and types in 49,000—a little bit more than I was planning on spending, but they were comfortable, so I went ahead and bought them.

...but there was this niggling in the back of my mind. Sam=3...right? right? and of course it's happening in real time, so I end up just going with the flow. Then he throws me off by smiling and saying "Discount. Discount." taking 5,000 off the price he typed in. I still had a tickle at the back of my mind, but I ended up exiting with the pair of shoes.

....once I got out and thought it over I realized, he totally made about 10,000 extra off of me, even with the discount. 

Wah, I guess it serves me right for having lazy ears....practice, practice.
