Gus’

Gus’ is located directly in the city centre. It’s on Garema street, Civic so it’s nice and close to the shopping centre and there’s always a car park with only a short walk to the restaurant. 

There is an amazing outdoor eating area which is quite new and sits literally on the street. It’s like sitting outside and on the street, however, it’s sheltered and heated for comfort. Straight away the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant is clear and noticeable. 

There’s plants hanging from the ceiling of the outdoor eating area along with hanging lights and a TREE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE!! These aspects as somewhat decorations are absolutely beautiful and completely make the space. The area is really unique and interesting, it was like eating in a forest. Inside the restaurant there was less decoration but the roof was made out of wood and the couch-like chairs along the outer side of the room kept the atmosphere that’s evident in the outdoor eating area - comfy, homey, and really natural. 

As we sat down to order there was old school music playing over the speakers which really added to the vibe. 

We ordered Gus’ Char Grilled Beef Burger: with chips, cheddar cheese, caramelised onion, lettuce, tomato, bbq sauce and mayo for $19.50, the Chilli Prawn and Squid Linguine: fresh herbs, tomato and olive oil for $24 for the mains and they were absolutely delicious. They were presented pretty well, the burger on a wooden board which replicated the design of the restaurant and the chips in a cute little basket, the pasta was on a clean white plate and had colour through the herbs and seafood. They weren’t impressively presented but they were nice. 

Our orders were taken rather quickly but the food itself took a little while to get to the table. They were so tasty that I didn’t even mind waiting! 

For dessert I ordered Gus’s Brownie Sundae: vanilla ice cream, candied pecans and salted caramel sauce for $13 and a Nutella Hot Chocolate for $5.50. I was so impressed with the dessert and the hot drink. I thought I’d be too full to even make a dint in it but I ended up polishing them both off. The presentation of it wasn’t beautiful but it came out pretty impressive with the ice cream stacked on top. I wasn’t even paying too much attention to the presentation at the time, all I could think was how good it tasted. I couldn’t get enough yet I’d had too much all at the same time. They did forget the order so it came pretty late but that I could have almost looked past as well. 

The staff were friendly and quick to take orders, I should also probably mention that the waiters were noticeably cute ;) When it came time to pay the staff behind the counter were cracking jokes and confirmed the pleasurable dining experience I had already had. 

I had a really good experience at Gus’, minus the forgotten dessert, and I will definitely be going back for more - sooner rather than later.
