Well, Game of Thrones was her first acting part in English. She was fluent in German and Turkish, but she hardly knew English at all when she was cast.

True, and I of course don't hold it against her for having that accent. I just can't quite see why they cast her then. But they surely had their reasons. Then again, I already know her from German television and I don't like her there either. Guess she probably doesn't even deserve my hate at that point of the series, but oh well...

Well, to have brothels in a show about pirates makes sense. Brothels have a big part in the ASOIAF books, and Westeros is based on Medieval England, which had lots of them. Prostitution existed in Viking Scandinavia. As for the others, I’ve no idea.

Well, just because something exists in a given culture doesn't mean it has to be given a prominent part in a tv show set in that culture - or appear at all. Anyway, most of these shows aren't exactly striving for historical accuracy (and then there are the science fiction shows, and they really don't have an excuse).

Besides, those were just a few random examples from my recent viewing. Even if you can justify the appearance of a brothel/prostitutes/porn stars/whatever in the context of a given show, that still begs the question of why so very many shows need them, while other walks of life are rarely seen.

I wonder if anyone's ever done any statistics on most common jobs in RL vs. most common jobs in tv shows...

I don’t know. Even though Jarl Borg is a nasty creep, I don’t really want him to be blood-eagled. I’d prefer that to happen to Horik ;).

I just hope if they're gonna do it they don't pussy out and just elude to it happening. That would be lame.

All of them? Because somebody posted a photo of the Blu-ray with a sticker saying the mini comic was exclusive to Best Buy...

Anyway, if that's true, then I'll just have to wait until there's a region 2 available - I know that Denmark gets it in late november - as I sadly don't have a multiregion Blu-ray player and I want the Blu-ray (truth be told, I have no Blu-ray player - but I have a birthday soon and then there's Christmas and after that, if need be, there will be the january sales).
