Love On Christmas Eve [Gwilym Lee x Reader] Part Three.
Authors Note: Only 3 more sleeps until Christmas! I'm glad you are enjoying this so far and I hope you enjoy this next part. I got inspiration for a part of this from 'The Santa Clause 2' which is my favourite Christmas movie 🥰

The clock chimed five, signalling that it was finally time for you to close up the tea shop for Christmas. The last of the customers finished their hot beverages with a little encouragement from yourself and you were able to turn the sign on the door round to 'CLOSED' at last.
Grabbing your coat and bag, you clocked out and wished your co workers a very merry Christmas before leaving the shop to be greeted by Gwilym. A bright smile appeared on your face as your eyes gazed upon him. There he stood against the lamppost, wrapped up for the snowy weather, wearing a charming grin. Without saying a word to one another, you began to wonder through the town and eventually made it into the snow covered park. It was quiet for Christmas Eve. It was peaceful and serene as the pair of your crunched through the snow.
"How was the rest of your shift?" He asked.
"Busy but worth it," you told him, "So, how exactly do you plan on changing my mind about Christmas then?"
"I have some ideas," he smiled as he let out his hand for you to take in your own.
You timidly took it and instantly relaxed as the warmth from his hand filled your entire body.
"I thought we could check out the ice rink downtown," he suggested.
The bottom of the town was a fair walk and you knew there was no chance that you were going to be able to make it down the hilly streets without slipping in the snow and making a complete fool of yourself.
"Uh - that's quite a walk Gwilym, also I'm allergic to ice," you fibbed as your cheeks began to blush ferociously.
Gwilym let out a chuckle and shook his head at you.
"Now that is a first, an allergy to ice, eh?" He stifled, "Well luckily for you, I have transport sorted,"
"Ooh, you did come prepared, what do you drive?" You asked curiously.
"You know what?" He started as you rounded the corner, "I think you're going to like it,"
You furrowed your brows and darted your eyes to where Gwilym was now pointing. Your heart stopped for a second from the sheer surprise that was now in front of you. There in the middle of the pathway was a small horse drawn sleigh. It was like something out of a Christmas film and you suddenly became a child all over again. The magic of Christmas was right there in front of you.
"Gwilym, this is -," you started but you couldn't continue.
A small excited giggle escaped you as you walked over to the sleigh and gave the horses a little fuss.
"Oh that doesn't matter," Gwilym smiled, "Shall we?"
The settled snow and lights wrapped around the trees glistened under the moonlight as the horses trotted you and the sleigh through the park. You sat beside Gwilym, a blanket dropped across both your legs and a comfortable silence surrounding you and in your gloved hand you held a flask of steaming hot chocolate.
"Can I ask you something?" Gwilym asked.
"Of course," you said, taking a sip.
He hesitated for a moment and let out a small sigh.
"Why do you hate Christmas so much?"
You scoffed with a flat smile.
"Well let's see; the shops are always crowded, the streets are jammed, people start getting themselves into debt over one day, it's noisy -,"
"Okay, okay, I get that but something tells me that's not the real reason,"
You gulped as your eyes looked down at the small flask in your hand.
"I haven't always hated Christmas," you started, "I used to love it too but - a few years ago it kind of all went wrong,"
"My heart was broken," you sighed, "That Christmas was meant to be the most incredible one of all, I had everything planned out and -,"
A single tear rolled freely down your cheek and you were quick to wipe it away.
"I awoke on Christmas Eve to a text, an empty wardrobe and a spare apartment key - the rest is history,"
You breathed out deeply, glad to finally get it off of your chest.
"Wow, this is great sleigh riding conversation isn't it, I'm sorry, you must really think bad of me now," you sighed covering your face with your free hand.
"On the contrary, I think you're pretty amazing,"
Your hand fell from your face and you noticed that the sleigh had stopped and that Gwilym now had his eyes upon you. You cleared your throat a little and forced a smile as you pulled the blanket closer to yourself.
"I just wish I could still believe in it, you know," you sigh sadly.
Gwilym nodded, his hand somehow finding yours.
Clearing your throat, you decided to quickly change the subject.
"Okay, we've stopped, what's next?"
Gwilym smiled and helped you out of the sleigh and back onto the ground. He then wandered to the back of the sleigh and pulled out two pairs of ice skates and handed a pair to you.
"I thought perhaps we could skate somewhere a little more secluded," he told you, gently holding your shoulders and turning you around to face you towards the ice covered lake.
"Isn't that awfully dangerous?" You panicked, apprisensively taking the skates from him.
"Well, technically yes but I have a feeling that just for tonight, it will hold up strong," he winked, "Come on,"
Gwilym was right, the ice had never been so strong. Skating on the lake had been a tradition in your town for generations but in recent years, it had become too dangerous and the winters were not near enough as cold as they needed to be in order to freeze the lake thoroughly.
"You're a natural at this," Gwilym chuckled as he watched you glide across the ice, completely fear free.
"I used to skate here all the time as a kid, it was my favourite thing to do at Christmas other than open presents and eat mince pies," you giggled, making your way back to Gwilym's side.
You were so wrapped up in the moment as you slid across the lake, that without warning you tumbled slightly and fell into Gwilym's strong arms.
"Woah!" You screeched, clutching onto Gwilym for dear life.
"Steady," he laughed lightly, "Are you okay?"
You nodded and his brilliant blue orbs gazed down into yours as you lifted your head up from his chest. You didn't quite know what was happening but you suddenly felt all giddy with nerves and excitement. There was no denying that Gwilym was handsome but nothing could beat his personality. How could a stranger that you'd met less than twelve hours ago make you feel this way. You were never this spontaneous, especially since that fateful Christmas heartbreak you had suffered, but now you could feel the magic of Christmas settle into your heart again and all because of him; a clumsy customer who had literally managed to sweep you off your feet.
"Are you starting to believe in Christmas again yet?"
You smiled and bit your lip.
"Almost," you said, "There's just one more thing that could bring the Christmas magic back into my life.
